If they can't figure out how to log legally, they #### sure won't never learn to cheat the book. I guess that's good in a way.

while in school my room mate was having a terrible time with log books. I tried to explain them to him and he was just blocked he left went to a small company and was fired the first week he was on his own. drove 7 days with not one page of his log book filled in. all the way across US and never got checked. he turned in empty pages and when they asked why they were blank he said I don't know how and hey I don't eed them I know when to drive. he was a smart one.

Back when I was in CDL school during the first week of classroom time, I had a roommate ask me about double clutching. I told him you just clutch it out of gear, let out then clutch it again back into gear.

He said, "Okay, but what's a clutch?" :biggrin_2556:

Dude had never driven a manual transmission vehicle in his life, and evidently never knew anyone who did. He was later sent home due to a medical condition.

I tell ya, a lot of people are just slap ignorant. A log book is easy to understand and the basic concept is easy to understand but if you don't understand the basic concept then you #### sure won't know how the rest works. I won't bother to try and explain it.

yes they are but some of the companies are to blame for that too because they rush you through training and then put you out there.

I've seen some pretty stupid things go on. I actually saw a guy who was using his jake brake in the parking lot at a truck stop!!! LOL

The only problem with that is they total screw up of the logs they do make.

THAT was probably a good thing for the industry.

Ya know Skunk, I can understand that statement, but have you NEVER had a "mental block" about anything? That was what I was up against, and once I did get it figured out, I had to ask myself how I could be so stupid.[IMG]

Big Don, making more out of something than is really there has been a plague for me for as long as I can remember. I have a hard time taking things at face value. I question almost everything, but, as you said, once it clicks I feel like a complete moron! I have a firm belief in "You don't know it unless you can teach it....without the book". Great as an ideal, tough in practice!

Two years into my first time driving OTR a newbie proudly displaying his "New Driver" company baseball cap asked me: "What is a Hot Load?" (No Time for Delivery) "What is all this extra paperwork for?" (Hazardous Materials Manifest) What are the diamond stickers for?" (Corrosive & Flammable Placards) "And why do I get a new truck if I don't install the stickers until after I get off the PA turnpike?" (Tunnels?)

Driver,You need to call Safety & I need to Quit

Pardon me big don. No pun intended. Me, no, never really had that problem except here in the last few day's on personal finance's but it's only because there is so much to juggle while trying to figure new house payment's and all that goes along with it. I'm getting there though. Health insurance however, I'm completely stumped on sense I'm trying to get my own rather than through a third party (company).
