I had an epiphany about backing up a tractor-trailer on a city street

So let's say that you are in the situation that I was in. And either you or the green truck had to back up or neither of you could make your turns. Let's say that you decided to be the one to back up. If you had not been watching your mirrors for every second after pulling up in the turn lane to make sure that no car was behind you, what would you do? Would you physically step out of your truck and put your body on the city streets to make sure no car was behind you when you backed straight up? That's what it looks like I will need to do in the future. That can be hazardous because I could get hit by a car in the oncoming traffic lane. But it looks like that is what I will do.

Let's say you were driving towards the Pilot truckstop in Ocala, FL. And you pulled into the turn lane to make a left-hand turn into the truckstop. Then you had to stop in the turn lane because there was oncoming traffic. Then after you were already stopped, a semi-truck with a 53' trailer pulled onto the driveway and pulled up near the street and stopped about 3 feet from the street. This other semi-truck is trying to make a right-hand turn. You were there first. But this other semi-truck drove up the driveway and next to the street anyway. What would you do?

Yeah but I never really thought about it in terms of backing before. I only thought about it in terms of driving forward.

Yes that would put him in the wrong.. but alot of times out here it doesn't matter who is right or wrong. I want to go home at the end of the day without my hood or body panels being relocated to the scrap yard... sometimes that means yielding to idiocy and stupidity.. you have to remember alot of drivers do not speak or read English therefore the signs are not going to be understood...

If arriving at the same time to an intersection as this I will always yield to the other driver regardless because like I said I don't want my hood to be relocated.. this is just me. You can do as you wish...
what you should never do is backup like that. It is very dangerous and you could've hit the car behind you. And you will be blamed for it as it will be your fault.

Well, SOMEBODY had to back up, or the green truck and I would have been sitting there until the end of time. What should I have done?

You don't seem to understand the situation I was in. There was not room for him to complete his turn UNLESS I BACKED UP!
