    I will in the future.

I'm sure that you have been in a situation before in which you and another truck both pull up at about the same time and you forgot to stop and yield or you pulled up anyway because you did not realize that there is not enough room for both of you to make your turns at the same time.

I think that in a situation like this, the default answer is the driver who is on private property is the one who should back up, NOT the driver on a city street.

Like I said. You can do as you wish.
iknow what I will do and my truck will not end up in a bad spot like that... have I been there before? Yes maybe my 2nd day after I got my CDL , then I said I won't be doing that again... never been in that situation again because I use my brain that the good lord gave me.

I'm sure that if you are on a huge sleep deficit, and you only have 30 minutes left on your 14 hr clock, and you were pulling into a truckstop late at night, it might be possible that you would forget to yield to a truck driving up a narrow driveway to a truckstop that you are trying to turn into. We're all human here.

My question is not for the perfect demi-Gods that never forget this. My question is for the humans here. Let's say that you are pulling into a turn lane and you forget to yield to another truck trying to exit the narrow driveway. Shouldn't the default position be that the driver on the driveway back up his tractor-trailer instead of the driver on the city street?

I'm glad nothing bad happened. NEVER BACK UP ON A PUBLIC ROADWAY if there is ANY alternative. EVERY van and reefer has a huge car-sized blind-spot directly behind the trailer. Depending on the sun and other factors, you can use the shadows of your trailer to notice if something is directly behind your trailer, or you can get out of the seat and look to see if there is a vehicle behind you. Depending on all the details, I would have sat there until the green truck backed up or figured out how to leave while you waited, or you might have been able to continue ahead on the road you were turning from, while the green truck left, and you could have entered the entrance from the opposite direction. However, the last option makes your turn into the entrance more difficult and if another vehicle replaces the green truck in the blocking position, you have to wait in the street. Some newbies, me included, feel like every situation requires them to yield and fix it. That's not always safe or true. NEVER back up on a public street if there is ANY alternative, including difficult ones. It sounds like you accidentally avoided losing your job in one of the most rookie ways possible. Use this as a learning experience. If you don't learn from your mistakes, and those of others, you will be very dangerous and work for worse and worse companies. I made so many mistakes. Please learn from others' mistakes when they make them. It's pretty hard to be too careful once you have a CDL. In the old days, another driver could tell you on the CB what was behind you, and you could probably trust him. That's not happening anymore, everyone is on their smartphone.

Well since this question was not for perfect demi-god supertruckers and only intended for regular humans, I am no longer qualified to reply.
