Go down the mountain at the speed you feel comfortable at. If that's 45, so be it. Let those other guys cook their brakes if something comes up that everyone has to brake hard. The other day I went down the Eastbound side of Monteagle hill on 24 at the speed limit (45) and didn't have to touch my brakes once, let the engine brake do all the work, vs the super truckers who rode their brakes all the way down at 55+.

Don't ever let holding some one up rattle you, that's when you goof up. Now that advice comes from a guy that after 18 years still gets rattled in very congested city traffic. So I understand its hard to do, but its better to come down the mountain a thousand times than only 10. FWIW last time I came down the east side of Eagle I was at about 35 mph or so. But that's where I was comfortable that day

Someone behind me wants to go faster than I am going, they have two choices, pass me or shut up and deal with it. I come off a hill at a speed I feel safe.

On that note, when you are coming off a hill and seeing these trucks whiz by you, you don't know if they are empty loaded or what ever else. An empty truck can run off a grade much faster than a loaded truck and still be safe. Although mark my words, there are also a lot of unsafe idiots in this business too.

Thank you yes I agree with all you said ill just stick to the safest method ( low speed and patience ) I was shocked not to see any run away ramps on New York and not many in Massachusetts

Do your job right you will never need that ramp, those ramps exist because of stupid people.
