I hate to hear about that problem you had this weekend FM. I used to have some pups ( and cats ) myself and even though it's been 7 years past, I imagine them very often. I hope you heal up quick.

Do you have an 'interstate battery' dealer near you? They have a battery that is a step up from a conventional type of battery. It's made differently. Supposed to be waaaayyyy better. I can't recall the name of it right now. I'll try to find out

Interstate and Delco distributors in town.

Forgot to get windshield washer fluid, Time to remind myself and others to get the winter stuff. It does truly suck when the nozzles freeze up during a snow storm.

Got the truck back from the PM, they've stickered me up good...now I look like a real Schneider driver! No more hiding for me. Gotta admit though, it looks pretty good.

Headed to Baton Rouge, la. Thought I was getting the solar panels removed over the weekend...

Guess that's what I get for thinking.

Can't complain too much though, 1020 paid miles and 1 paid unload. Doesn't deliver until tomorrow morning.

I wonder what the dot/Sni would think if I put an alien facehugger from AVP on my grill.....

    You know. This thing?

I rented a new T680 a few months ago that was equipped with their super fuel efficient package, including the automated 10 speed. Unless riding on level terrain with the cruise on, it was more work than my manual 13. That, and turtle slow shifting at the worst possible times (think making a left onto a 4 lane divided highway with 60 mph cross traffic), I would never consider buying one with that option.

Probably an AGM (advanced glass mat), or gel type battery. They are spill proof and require no electrolyte maintenance. Usually better capacity than a lead-acid battery. All that for about 2-2.5X the price.

Don't believe the claims of longer life. I've done two trials. Admittedly not a scientifically valid sample, but here you go:

A set of 4 Optima yellow tops in my truck lasted 20 months. I am fairly certain one just failed, which in turn affected two more. One, the bottom one in the back, was saved due to a crusty jumper cable terminal. It was a factory cable with the terminal end encased in plastic, making it impossible to see the green fuzz growing inside. I had bought them from NAPA and all four were replaced under their 24 month warranty, no questions. Upon replacement, I cut the plastic off all remaining cable ends and replaced the one that was bad. We'll see how long set #2 goes. On the upside, having 4,400 cold cranking amps on deck spins the C-15 Cat like the head is removed LOL.

About a month after I put the yellow tops in the truck, I put a Deka AGM in one of my reefer units. I would have bought another yellow top, but the NAPA warehouse I shop at was out of them. It also lasted 20 months. When it came out, the terminals were clean as a whistle, and no defects in the cables. I found out that Deka only offers 12 month warranty on their commercial batteries so no love there. Since I was already at Deka, I bought a blemished AGM battery to replace it. That one was bad from the get-go and I had my repair shop just swap in one of their lead-acid batteries to get it going. I need to get up there and get the old one to return. Since it was a blem (and less than 1/2 price) it only came with a 6 mo warranty.
