Even better, because I couldn't make the 1 am unload time (was on my 10 anyway), I don't get dimurage. Oh joy. Nothing like sitting for 3 hrs and rising for free

I remember that old TA on that side of town. That's where my dancing lot lizard stories took place.

That place was a cluster too!

When we shopped for parts for my dad's 2006 Jett TDI, we always had to have the VIN handy because VW switched suppliers three times that model year, some 2006 were the same as 2005, then 2006 and a switch mid year 2006. :(

My 1998 Jett TDI actually had the Passat engine as none of the 1.9TDI belts and parts for the Jetta fit mine but the parts for the 1996-97 Passat TDI did.

Guess they had some leftover Passat engines, lol

'06 is when they did the cutover to the 2.0L, likely why there were multiple options on your Dad's car. I'm not positive, but I think they did a similar production change in the late 90's moving up from the old 1.6L non-turbo. Those 1.6's got killer mileage for the time (usually 50+), but were completely gutless. The 1.9L were better, but the '06 and up 2.0L moves out better than a gas burner. The Passat will smoke the front tires without trying too hard, and now gets 44 mpg on the highway since it's broken in.

mercedes diesels pretty much all made sense until1987
the 62 with 300000 miles and a 48 hp engine
4 on the column was an embarassment as a senior in HS
Dad was so proud that he gave his son a mercedes to drive
of course 20 years later my daughter was driving the 86 SDL with 396000 miles it finally died at 425000
this 1993 can't ever make up it's mind if it is a 93 or 94
but it is a POS in either year
I will never have a connection with the new little Fiat like the Mercedes were over the years
the Fiat breaks i can just pick it up and put it in the dumpster

I loved out accelerating guys in gas Jettas who were wannabe fast and furious racers.

I drove it like I stole it and got a 40 mpg average in town. I could set the cruise to 90 on the open road and not miss a beat. That was a good car.

I had dad's 2006 for a year after he was diagnosed with dementia and decided driving was a bad idea. Eventually I decided to sell it and I listed it for $14k. A young lieutenant stationed at Fort Bliss bought it. USAA offered him a $11500 loan on it and I told him it was a deal since I have insurance through USAA and I know their check wouldn't bounce lol.

Dad gave me the car so it was pure profit.

DSP doesn't have any load for me yet... :( So... I am at this FJ a little north of SLC.... Truck stop guide says this truck stop is medium size... LOL... IMO it's small... But I got here early enough to get a good spot... this is in case I stay here overnight and leave early in the morning...
