In 1969 my parents blew the engine on their 1961 Corvair driving from Kansas City, MO back home to Portales, NM. Happened outside of Wichita. Speed limit on the turnpike was 80 back then, guess the old girl couldn't take it anymore, lol!

I think they double as storage units.

As a bonus in El Paso, the drippings might help prevent weeds from growing on your lawn that is landscaped with dirt and rocks.

Some people are just too clever for their own good.

In high school, my best friend's Dad had a '63 Spyder convertible. Without 100 lb of sackrete under the hood, the front end would lift off the ground at about 80 mph. Seat belts were still an option for that year as well. Seems fun and safety are usually exclusive.

Edited to add: The cool part about lifting the front end was when you finally had enough and lifted your right foot. The front tires would skid like landing gear on an airplane touching down.

Bikes are awesome machines, own a 97 Honda Valkyrie..think blowing a steer tire is fun?
Try controlling an 800 pound motorcycle, while losing a front tire.
Thank God it happened to me on the off ramp,30 seconds earlier,at 80 mph,and heavy traffic...has death written all over it.
