####....I just took out a dog on MS-13. Decided to just cross the street in the middle of the night out here. Had to be a stray as there isn't much out here. He went under my right steer...and I literally want to cry. Sigh.

Wasn't a safe place to pull over so I called it in and pulled over to inspect the truck. No damage and the sheriff thanked me for calling and said they would take care of it.

My get up and go has gotten up and left. Don't feel like laying here, but don't feel like moving.

First time I haven't had to idle the truck in a while. I'm happy with it, just wish it was a little cooler here.

Saw a glimpse of my paycheck for next week and my jaw hit the floor. Getting paid for doing training, getting the last of my sign on bonus, reimbursement for school, plus the loads I ran. There's still one or two loads that haven't been added in yet.

Good timing as far as I'm concerned. Insurance for the new truck is 560$ for 6mo, to me that's a large increase. I've been used to 320$ for bare minimum for 6 months.

Fiancée couldn't help but shoot daggers at me through the texts as I complained about the increase... "I pay 1200$ for 6 months for full coverage. Don't you complain about that price tag!" Given the vehicle she's got, I think she's overpaying... Mid 90's Mazda truck.

Guess I better get moving. Parked here last night for easy access to coffee. Wouldn't you know it though, this is one of those times when coffee just doesn't appeal.

I know the feeling. I've been fortunate to have not even (knowingly) hit anything live crossing the road. But even when an ugly as sin oppossum crosses the road, can't help but try and dodge him.

I have hit a shovel. Went right underneath the steers (both) and spit back out from the trailer tires. Thought I saw a chunk of rubber go with it, but I couldn't find anything when I pulled over to look things over.

One tough as nails shovel too...saw it spit back out whole in the mirrors.

I do that, run the apu when it's mild. Yesterday in fact, and the reefer wasn't an issue as this freezer asks to leave the units off while docked. It was super humid and windows open probably would have made it worse. If it's not that, it's all the urine soaked into the pavement wafting in through the windows.

That's about what I do anyway, even though I have my max set at 75. Chances are I'd never pass a 68 mph truck unless they were heavy on hilly terrain. Paying for fuel and repairs kinda sucks the fun out of going faster.

Anyone can register trailers in Maine. There are agents that make a nice business from registering out of state trailers. No ad valorem tax there. Considering the size of the fleet, I wouldn't be surprised if Muñoz is doing it. Right now I wouldn't save enough to make the effort. However, one day when I buy a new or nearly new one, it will have a ME plate.

I took out a couch in Meridian MS. A pickup doing a household move tied down with twine merged on in front of me. I was close to 80k and had already let up with the jakes on hi because he was slow. I saw the couch getting loose and started serious braking, when a breeze caught it and it slid onto the road. It kind of spun lengthwise and drifted right, so I crowded to the left. It's narrow thru Meridian, so not much room to work with. I -almost- missed it. Bumped it with the right steer and it exploded against (but not totally under) the drives and the tandems. All I could see in the mirror was a cushion wedged in front of the trailer mudflap.

It took me 1/4 mi to stop and pull over and check for damage. Nothing. Not even a scratch or an air line or loose wire anywhere. By the time I got to the back, the furniture owner had already run up and snatched that cushion. Looked like it used to be a pretty nice piece of furniture LOL. I didn't even waste time checking on the dummy that lost it. Once I found my truck whole, I got going.

Edited to add: I bet you Ashley drivers have wet dreams about crushing some furniture under your wheels LOL

I once ran over a car hood that literally flew off the pickup down the road and landed directly in front of me. That one busted an air line but considering what it could have done it was minimal.

I've hit a live turkey as well who committed suicide on my bumper but really the only thing worse to me than hitting a human is hitting a dog. Just made this night a bummer.
