PackRat, just saw this. I'm fueling up at the J in Texarkana. I'm your daughters age...could've introduced me to this waitress your talking about. :biggrin_25522:

Heading to Austin, TX then to Dallas to pick up our load going home to sweet home Chicago. Been 4 weeks out here. Felt good to be working again. Wife and I gonna do road tests for our company Monday and Wednesday. Excited about that.

That's why I spent last night @ Cliff Castle Casino ob I17. Dropped into PHX got the snow crustiness washed off the truck and hit the 14:00 PU.

Overnighting in Barstow tonight. Dropping this stuff in Jo' town ( pronounced Ho a.k.a San Jose) tomorrow. Then head for home.....

There is a balance point there someplace for dead head. If you look @ $/day that the truck is generating it may make more sense to dead head a few hundred miles to a good paying load rather than waste 2 days time on a low $/no profit beer run.

Always been meaning to try that one out and park in the back. I usually drive down to Prescott not because I like TA but usually cause it's a shower night.

That's my motto. Obviously try to keep it minimal but I sure ain't contributing to low freight rates by pulling one. Especially in the northeast. Usually pays good enough coming in so I will be much more willing to bounce out empty if I have too.

You're absolutely right.....and for them that balance point is just having that rolling billboard on the road and in front of people. It's not like these trucks blend in with every white box going down the road. They stand out. They explained in orientation they sell furniture, not trucking, so there's huge value to them in just having the truck on the road keeping the brand name in front of as many eyes as possible.

Still a hard mindset to get used to though lol all these years I spent in management being centered on what my margin was every month and then trying to run my company truck like I own it and run at a profit as much as possible.......and then that line of thought gets turned 180 degrees.
