In the local gig I'm running at the moment, my loaded and deadhead miles are the same. We go out with a load from the plant, drop and hook to an empty, and deadhead right back. Granted it's only about 100-150 miles one way to our customers, but two of them a day and your looking at about 250 deadhead miles EVERY day. I suppose it's more cost effective to deadhead back and grab another load than to look for freight back and only do one load out of the plant.
That being said, the second run stresses me out majorly. By the time I get back with my first one, I've burned 6-7 hours of my day. Then I get another 6-7 hour second run and, running in the northeast, means fighting heavy traffic trying to get beck before I run out of hours, especially since I'm in a day cab. I'm not liking that too much. It would be nice if they could figure out a way to give us one long run and one shorter run each day. A little breathing room would be nice.
I hate Peoplenet, where are you parked and recipes thread

Sitting at Tulip City TS in Holland Mi for about 45 more minutes. Got to the plant about 23:30 last night and spent 8 hours in the sleeper with only a couple of interruptions to move the truck a few feet to line up the dome on a multi compartment tank.
Had 30 minutes left on my 14 after 8 sleeper and made it here for breakfast.
Headed for the house from here but it's too far without another break. Probably stop in Beckley depending on how I feel.TruckDuo Thanks this. -
Loading at Hood Packaging in Monticello, Arkansas. Hasn't stopped raining and I got soaked in a downpour opening the doors and sliding the tandems. After all that drama, it stopped raining hard. ####! ####! Etc.

Sad part was I waited 5 hrs and no oil change. -
made it to the heartless yard in Atlanta after the drop and swap in ecru.
kinda had to smile to myself this morning rolling through dark into daylight coming up to and through little rock. just enough overcast to keep the sun out of my face, nice color in the sky and a good playlist on the phone plugged into the speakers........much better office view than the 4 walls I used to have. the good days still far outweigh the bad.
briefly thought about just stopping in villa rica but had just enough time to do the extra 23 miles here and wsb was saying traffic was good to the loop ( but a nightmare once on it lol typical Atlanta Friday ) so pushed on over here. sure are a lot of trucks always on the yard here. either they have many many seats to fill or those guys really do sit as much as they say they do. always seems to be a bunch of them hanging around the lounge. not a very talkative bunch.
5 1/2 hrs to the yard from here puts me home by 1030. get up at dark thirty and have a smooth ride around the loop right before sunrise.
planned out for Brandon, fl for Monday 2200 drop so rinse and repeat of this week at least to start out next week. -

Whiling rolling through Tennessee yesterday, the wife and I stopped at the Exit 87 BBQ off of I-40 in Jackson, TN thats across from the Loves. Its another one of those truck friendly gems that my fellow Food Porn lover PackRat told me about. The owner opens around 6am and closes whenever the food is all gone. They have everyones favorite combination....hot girls and BBQ. LOL.

After loading in Monticello, I decided to disregard my idiot box which routed me up US245N to I530/I440 and I40E to West Memphis, I plotted a course on US278E to AR277E to US165N to AR1N to US79N to I40E which saved 70+ miles.
That's why I dropped you, Brian (peterbilt_2005) while we were on the phone, went into no man's land, lol.
I don't know why AR1 north of DeWitt is shown as a skinny grey line on the atlas, it has wide paved shoulders. Oh well.
Hit the scale at the Love's and parked to get my scale ticket and a Subway.
Bills say 44,704. My truck empty weighs in at 33800 with a full aero trailer and full tanks. So more like 46,000 lbs. I guessed California setting when I left based on how it's loaded. Moved one hole back to even it out. All is well. Have 3/4 tanks so no fuel worries.peterbilt_2005, TruckDuo and Rocks Thank this. -
Come sliding into the house again. Had a pretty good day of grain haulin. We loaded at Tuckerman 3 miles from home emptied in Stuttgart. Reloaded in MC Crory and emptied out at OMP in Batesville. Had all three trucks on the gig. I decided in bald knob I wanted ice cream so I pulled everybody up. My treat of course, sittin there eatin that ice cream my boy still looked like that freckle faced little boy I once knew. Watchin him get under the wheel of his 379 I realized he grew into a man I'm proud to call son. Course he made a run for the front door on the long hill coming outta town, bout the time his steer made my trailer duals I blew a little smoke and eased off lol. Show off is all he had to say on the radio.
