Just when everything is going great Murphy's law kicks in. Record time for picking up this load. Paperwork is ready when I get here. Usually wait at least 30 min for it. 3 drop and hooks to spot an empty in the rack where my load awaits. Pull up to the gate to this
Waiting for maintenance 30 minutes and counting. I could unscrew a couple of bolts and have that gate open in 5 minutes. Not about to though. At least I am on the clock. -
Ended up tonight at everyone's favorite crash 'em and smash 'em TA in Bloomsbury. Certainly not my first choice but as usual running up here I was going to run out of parking before I ran out of time.
Both of the pilots were out of the question they're worse than this one lol
Hand off the load I had to the guy waiting on it when I got back to Leesport today and get the next one. Bobtail 564 miles to hermon, me, grab an empty and call for the backhaul. Sometimes the things they do just make me shake my head. I'm having a little trouble believing there wasn't a relay or a drop going that way I could have at least pulled part of the way. Oh well. 564 bouncing bobtail miles it is. Be a nice change of scenery haven't been up that far into the NE in a while -
Made it to Gas City (insert Beavis laugh). Parked at this service station with truck parking down the street from the Walmart DC where I deliver at 0800. Then deadhead over to Hebron, KY to pick up a load going to Hazelton PA.

Man, didn't even get off the lot with the California load. Got changed for a lewisbury penn. Load a truck had broken down in north ga. So lucky us we got to go recover it. 2150 miles vs 730 miles. But Monty hall I was happy with door number one.

This is what you call a full day. Stopped at the Exxon at the top of the hill east of Van Horn. The last 125 miles will have to wait for the morning. -
Got talked into another trip to Ft. Dodge IA. Murphy's Law for me yesterday and today. Everything I did took an extra hour. Then I got started later than I wanted, and got hosed in traffic. Not once. Not in one place. 3-4 times. I quit counting. Then last night, my intermittent a/c problem became continuous.
So I parked at the Oak Grove KY Peelot for tonight. I toyed with the idea of making another 3 hours work and get into Mt. Vernon IL to combine break and fuel at the TA. Hot, tired, I quit. Right here LOL. Not going to take a chance on getting tired on the way, as there is only one decent place to park after dark, the KY scale, and I don't feel like camping there after today.
I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that the a/c has just lost it's refrigerant. Probably decent odds on that, since the system was flat when I bought the truck 2 yrs ago and only charged it once then. Hopefully they'll have a rescue can of R-134a in the store I can try before either paying and waiting forever next chance, or sucking it up till I get home to my own service gauges. At least being parked, I can blast apu air conditioning LOL. -
At the house for a bit roll back out around 3.
