Being as cheap as am, I actually like the $4 biscuits and gravy breakfast. Water and tip comes out to just over $7.

I'll vouch for it. It's pretty good. Never had anything else there. Too expensive.

Made my delivery to the chemical plant ok. Only issue was they reversed the no facial hair policy two weeks ago. So now I'm looking like the construction worker from the village people.

Was supposed to load up Monday somewhere in Houston going up to Cicero, but that got all messed up. One of the branches in LA wouldn't take their load, and it's the same product, sooo I'm taking that load from the yard tomorrow and attempting to deliver it monday. Or Tuesday. The customer really isn't sure. Then if the plan holds, load in IN and deliver on next Friday in Denver. Should be a decent payday.

Drew a zero in Iowa today. I did manage to get my load delivered drama free, trailer washed out, and some invoices sent. Also treated myself to an overpriced burger and a slice of apple pie at the Perkins next door. I guess the value was in the appearance. Probably the cleanest diner I have ever visited. The food came out and looked just like the picture in the menu. However, I can spot a Sysco burger no matter how well dressed it is. It was ok, just not $15 ok.

If I don't manage to scavenge a rescue load tomorrow or Sunday, it will be the first time in about two years getting stuck out on the road over a weekend. So I can't really complain. If I get motivated tomorrow, I might ride down to Des Moines and park somewhere I can buy a shower. Before that I thought about getting a hotel room. I'm no stranger to spending money, but $80 bucks (plus tax) a night for a Super 8? Umm, that would be a "no." I double checked to see if I was still in BF, IA when I walked the dog, and yep, still did not see a beach or other tourist attraction nearby.

In IA the prairie is a tourist attraction........

Pickins have been thin all week out of that area. The only thing I saw for Sat of interest enough to make the DH worth while was a trade show load CHI to Seattle area.

That's why I grabbed another Hazmat load.

I used to live in Jefferson which is due west of Ames on US30. Does the Altoona Pilot/Bosselmans still have the Grandma Max?

Don't know. I ended up at the Love's west of town in Clive. Looked like it used to be a J, and Love's is greater than Pilot IMO, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Turned out to be a winner. Somehow a shower point was on my card and I didn't have to pay. I think the cashier may have comped it, although she didn't say anything. No wait for a shower, then enjoyed a great chicken salad sandwich in the Denny's. Two thumbs up for this stop, as it's making my weekend stay suck a lot less LOL.

Spent the night in ABQ. Shoulda stayed @ the casino 20 miles up I25 but was focused on Miles to go tomorrow and didn't Look @ my clocks close enough. Will need to stop 100 miles short and roll it in in the early morning. PHX area or so tonight.

Weather was interesting coming down. Winter warnings with snow to the west and sever thunder storm warning to the east........
