Need to do some laundry so I personally conveyed myself to the Flying J here in Hubbard.

For the first time in a long time I'm sitting in the tv lounge.

This poor Prime driver. Starting backing into a door. I went inside to use the facilities. Was in there a good 5 minutes or so. Came back to my truck. Been sitting here another 10 doing stuff....looked out and he's still trying to put in the door. Sad thing is he's got an open door on both sides of him. I feel bad for not helping him but it's kinda embarrassing to think I need to approach him and ask him if he needs help. He isn't going to hit anything so I don't feel bad not asking.

That's like when i worked at Walmart and backed a truck in for a Swift dedicated driver after she tried for 30 min. No trucks in our docks.

    Nobody ratted me out. :)

I usually will offer help when I see a struggle, especially if I'm already outside. 50/50 odds it's a rookie that will welcome some friendly direction. If not, I step away and let them have at it, provided it's not my truck they're backing into. Maybe get the camera app open on my phone just in case LOL.

It helps that I'm very patient and kind of a natural at teaching people stuff. I usually walk up with a grin and say something like, "These easy docks can sometimes be the worst, right?" When they figure out I wasn't the guy on the CB picking on them, it goes well from there.

I remember one at Claxton Cold Storage about a year ago. Dude was all over the place, except where he needed to be, in a day cab no less. Turns out he was normally a straight truck driver and the boss put him in a rental to move this 53 footer. So near zero experience with a semi after passing his CDL-A test. After a few tries at directions, I ended up climbing on the step and giving the directions real-time. It was something productive to kill time for me, and the driver really appreciated the help. He practically didn't know how to behave with someone that wasn't shouting at him.

Truth be told I think part of the reason I didn't is because I don't know how to approach somebody in that situation without coming off like a know it all. I already know in that situation he's probably more than a little embarrassed that he can't get it into an easy spot and then he may snap at me hurting my feelings and making me cry. Lol

If he was in danger of doing any damage I would be the first person to help. ms @Rocks will attest to that as we nearly saw a driver take out a trailer on the blind side at that Pilot in Connecticut. We rushed over to help. Well truth is....she rushed....I walked swiftly.

Yesterday started out good. Met up with BlairAndGretchen and his "dog" Gregor in E. St. Louis then my wife took over and I went to bed.

She came down with something nasty and needed me to take over in the afternoon. Luckily I wasn't too far from Dallas. Now we're at the doctors office and gonna get a hotel after this. I think she has the Flu.

Texas(Dallas) claims to be big but man they got a lot of streets with no truck signs. Wtf :bootyshake:

Since I'm feeling good....might get a rental and see if I can swing on by the Gas Monkey Garage. Addicted to that show. :headbang:

She was having trouble and stopped, set the brakes, and after seeing us watching through the dock door (it was that nights dry grocery freight that was pretty late), she asked if anyone knew how to drive.

All eyes turned to me as most knew I used to be OTR. I sighed, said Ok, and went outside.

I climbed in her truck, she got in the passenger seat. Said Anyone finds out about this we both get fired. I put it in the dock right away.

She was shocked and asked if I had experience. I told her I drove for two years for Stevens Transport delivering in New York City so I learned a few things about backing.

She was a cutie though. She told me her trainer never let her back the truck and the Swift training people didn't seem to concerned with that fact. Made me SMH.

Texas is a free range state. So if you want to keep cattle out, you have to put up fences. Or No Truck signs.
