I'll be checking my atlas prior to pulling off tonight, SNI loves to use some of the strangest routes. They only go by shortest amt of miles, not shortest time.
They'll forgo a route that keeps the driver on the interstate (and thus keeps the fuel mileage up in most cases) but is 30mi longer for a route that's shorter, but is stop & go or will likely be filled with slower zones that eat up your fuel.
I hate Peoplenet, where are you parked and recipes thread

Trucking is unpredictable sometimes...
Ah, and the total miles... sometimes I spend less miles than what company gave me... generally I spend a little more... but anything up to 20 something miles is "ok" for them... If I need to go out of my route for scale or any other reasonable purpose, just call dsp and they add that to the route...
Ah... forgot to add in my route decision making, the weight of the load... don't like to go thru lots of hills if I am very heavy... And I try to avoid I-80 WY if I am too light and the winds are too strong...
And my company takes weather in consideration when booking our loads either.. which is really nice... Also, we are not allowed to throw chains... only carry them...horsecrazychic22, HeWhoMustNotBeNamed, TruckDuo and 4 others Thank this. -
There it is, for real. See what I did there? I'll have enough for a stick of gum if I make a wrong turn and end up in São Paulo by accident.

@RedForeman I'm glad you're a part of the world I live in...always a twisted, yet intellectual perspective.

Not even being remotely sarcastic.horsecrazychic22, HeWhoMustNotBeNamed, TruckDuo and 4 others Thank this. -
I've got 6 bags of chains that have never been opened since I got them in 06? 07? . I carry 4 bags with me over the winter... the rest of the time they sit in the shed. If it's bad enough to chain, it's bad enough to shut down... ain't like we're delivering organs to a hospital.horsecrazychic22, HeWhoMustNotBeNamed, Rocks and 4 others Thank this. -
I carry 2 1/2 bags of chains, never been used. Enough to chain my outer drives and one trailer tire for drag, in case I need to get off the ice and into a parking place.

@Rocks
I'd be the smart ### of the group and ask if I can "carry" the chains using my tires.horsecrazychic22, Rocks, TruckDuo and 2 others Thank this. -
Not that I would do that....
horsecrazychic22, TruckDuo, truckon and 3 others Thank this.
