in my usual blunt tactless shoot from the hip style I had an interesting and somewhat uncomfortable ( for him anyway ) conversation with our truck manager about that peoplenet when I was getting everything changed over to my new truck.
as is the case when switching trucks or after an update, it didn't work.......and only was getting the proper update when I went in today to file my new medical with my terminal manager. you'd think a brand new truck with a brand new unit in it would have the latest updates but anyway....... I asked him why we went with the peoplenet instead of the QC and what moron made that decision when everything else we have is top of the line. he looked at me and said peoplenet was top of the line. he said that HE had done months of research on all of the available systems and made the decision to go with that one. so I more or less had called him a moron lol okay outright called him a moron. to his face. the rest of the conversation was a little tense but he said the peoplenet had far more capability of running reports for management in just about any configuration of parameters they wanted to input.....and then went on to say the QC was the most basic of systems and gave them nothing in the way of reports they could analyze. to which I didn't back off since I was already in so far and told him from the driver's seat the peoplenet was just a 2nd rate POS system that was in no way user friendly and that it didn't surprise me in the least that it was a choice that was made with management and not the drivers in mind. the QC was much more driver friendly. i could tell I didn't make a new friend......it's usually those office types that don't deal with me on a regular basis that find me a little too blunt and things hard to take without the sugar-coating lol the ones that deal with me every day have learned it's just how I am.
so, if you're running a peoplenet that's probably why they went with it. gives them many more numbers to crunch
still at the house after renewing my medical and playing hurry up and wait at the dmv. headed out to Brandon, florida before daylight

TruckDuo, Rocks, Dinomite and 1 other person Thank this. -
I believe my co. chose this piece of crap, I mean, Peoplenet because it was not only cheaper but also because it gives them (management) more of what they want, despite of being TOTALLY driver UNFRIENDLY... and have problems all the time, and give drivers pretty bad customer service...
So far, I've on PAPER! I don't care that elog may "save" me one hr or 2 per week... I get much less stress than being on elog... -
Pretty cool on days like today where there are big isolated cells around and you can get close enough to them to see the weather in action but stay far enough away to be safe. Bumpy air though. One of the pull the belts tight and ride the waves days. Good crosswind landing practice but as usual I nailed it. -

Yes... I had been running every night since....
oh well... for a few nights till this morning... And I made it... Got to company warehouse in Ontario, Calif at 1 am central time... Now I am parked here taking my 34...
Got everything that I need... they have showers inside... Not feeling any ambition to go anywhere...
And... truck got a little "sick" again...As soon as we entered Calif and passed the first inspection station... Both orange engine lights came on...
Had to go all the way up that I-40 at a WHOOPEE 22 mph... dropped to 6 gear... Gave the truck a treatment of high RPMs all the way to destination...
Today only one orange light was on... But the darn code EEC 61 is still there. Told dsp about it... Hope will get a load (not too heavy) tomorrow and truck will get better as soon as we are out of CA and these steep hills... In the meantime, I keep smelling something in the cab... Always smelled this before... I thought it was coming from outside... but now I am convinced, it may be burned oil...HeWhoMustNotBeNamed Thanks this.
