I knew there was something "different" going on... I wonder if they turned the body scan machine off... It didn't sound when I walked thru... although it would "normally" do...

very purposely not making it into a political discussion i'll be very careful with my words and just say they're just whining and trying to make a point about how important they are......and they are, I don't take anything away from the responsibility they have and having known more than my share of tsa employees during my aviation days most of them do take their job very seriously. what they don't ever admit, say or bring to light is that they get full back pay once funding is restored. not like they're missing any money. if they can't manage their money well enough to cover events like this that they KNOW will be an eventuality at some point during their career, well that's not our fault.

it's just like any other public sector union job. the only difference is these aren't paid quite as well as their brethren in the other federal agencies. never could figure that out given the responsibility that they have. average pay for a line worker in tsa is only 35k....but they do get the full public sector benefit package at retirement.

I'm down in tampa tonight.........ran Winston salem to tampa in 10:56. was sweating that last few miles as traffic was starting to jam up with under 15 minutes left but rolled into the lot with 4 minutes left.

headed to quitman, ga in the morning to pick up plywood then back to northeast ms soon as I can get there.....and they're getting weather again. looks like I may get in behind it after it's done though in the wee hours Wednesday morning. I've done so good avoiding it this year when I do get into it i'll probably be snowed in 10ft deep for days lol

Got up and out of Gary Indiana at 430. Breezed through Chicago and made it to Gaylord MN by 1500...with a shower stop in between. Place was busy so I was lucky and they told me to drop my trailer and grab an empty. I deadheaded up to St Cloud. I reload tomorrow at 1100. I Got lucky and got a spot at the Pilot in St Cloud. Had 8 minutes left on my 10, 14 AND 70 lol.... There is a nice bar and grill in the Pilot parking lot... So I'm enjoying a Fat Tire, burger and some ACC basketball. I get to sleep late, pick up and only have 6:50 hrs coming back tomorrow..... Headed to Hickory NC ..... Friday delivery... Limping home on recap... But that's cool.... when I get home Friday morning I will have rolled 3500 miles in the last
week... Home time for the wife's birthday......

    I love this job!!!!

  8. You be careful. Don't take any vegan sandwiches from any strangers. Keep your money in your shoe.

Your brothers, uncles and fathers out here expect you back in your truck by midnight no later.

Parked at the company yard in Columbus OH where it's a balmy 2 degrees with a low of -9. The good news is there's no wind.

Make a rookie miscalulation on this load. Have an 0700 delivery in Edison NJ on Wednesday so the plan was to finish the trip tomorrow arrive about 1900 and park overnight at the receiver. Just one problem. I read my recap wrong thinking I have 8.5 hours coming back tomorrow. Nope I have zero coming back leaving me with only 5.5 to drive tomorrow. So instead of staying at receiver I'll drive to Breezewood then wake up at 2am Wednesday and finish the trip. :smt021:smt021

You do the same. What's better than a 10 hour flight? Having the ability to sleep on demand! :biggrin_25525:
Truth is, when I take a flight, the initial climb along with the pressure change makes me sleepy. 9 out of 10 I can turn that head start into a serious nap and miss most of any flight. I hope you booked a seat in the middle section. For some reason everyone avoids that. If you get lucky, you might have 3 or 4 seats to stretch out in.

Nasty. I was hanging out all day at the BBQ truckstop waiting on my confirmed reload, watching all sorts of frozen precip. Anyway, I show up 1.5 hrs early to load and it turns out they double booked and the other guy got there first. Completely pissed, I returned to the TS and started looking for a load. Just when I was getting ready to hang up the TV and get ready to settle in, I got a good offer.

So now at Sulphur Springs waiting for a load going to Harrisonville MO, then I'll bounce back to the SE from there. So for the last 4 hours I've been cussing that broker like no tomorrow for potentially getting me stuck in the ice for a day or two. Going super slow getting here due to icing on the road plus MT trailer (2 hrs to cover 70 miles).

A little trip planning tells me this was actually not a bad thing. Looks like i'll get out of the ice just a little north of here around Paris. Had I reloaded back to ATL direct, I'd have followed that storm I sat through today for the entire route. More money too, so there is that going on as well. Definitely a lemons into lemonade kind of day LOL.

Parked at the SB rest area in McLean, IL. Unload in Bolingbrook went smoothly and I was deadheaded to Grand Rapids, MI for a two pick up load heading back to El Paso. It was two customers that needed a double decker trailer. :)
