February 2010 El Paso got slammed by an arctic blast. Record low temperatures that we have never seen or seen since. I think we saw 5 on our atomic clock thermometer. My mom recorded minus 2 up in Las Cruces. The local power station had to shut down their generators because they were exposed to the open air. They had to buy power on the open market but the lines could not sustain the whole city so they had rolling blackouts. We lost gas service because the
blackouts affected the pressure pumps. Half the palm trees died. The hedges outside my girls home has never come back fully. Lots of busted pipes all over town. It was a mess.

Recap issues are rare for me. I usually quit when its halfway used up, then hire myself back after a few days. I am, however, seeing the start of a 10 lbs of hours into a 5 lb clock problem with the reload I booked. I think there will be a couple of night shifts in the immediate future to follow the one I just did. The good news about last night was: when there's no trucks on the road besides me, there's nobody out there getting stupid, jack-knifed in the ice, and holding me up for hours waiting for their wrecker.

At the Harrisonville WM DC, sunny and 42º after an ice packed start to the week in Texas and thru Oklahoma. Almost forgot what my jake brake sounded like. Oh well, headed to Orlando and 70-something. I'll think about you all when I look at my jacket hanging on the seat.

Here in Breezewood. Gonna hit it at 0130 for the 4 hour drive which should get me to delivery in ample time. Then grabbed a shorty to Gordonsville Va which will allow my hours to catch up.

The older and more wore out a man gets the longer it takes to recover from those beat downs like he got. He's probably happy to stay horizontal and avoid taking deep breaths or laughing. A man tends to forget how bad those old busted up rib bones can hurt.
