I'm guessing in a state without vehicle inspections like NM where we lived at the time, it wouldn't raise an eyebrow.

Later, my dad had a 1978 Subaru BRAT pick up that was a hoot to drive. It had sat unused for two years and my dad paid $150 for it. A little gasoline and a new battery and that sucker fired right up.

We made a movie in my freshman English class of Julius Caesar but taking place in Iraq with Sadam Hussein as Caesar. The BRAT had those rear facing seats and we thought the truck was perfect for Sadam Caesar to ride in on, it had that middle eastern car look to it, lol.

We filmed out in the desert east of Las Cruces, NM. The area has been occupied by luxury golf course houses for the last 15 years, lol.

    I miss that little truck.

I know downtown and Underground Atlanta cause I lived there... and I still consider Atlanta MUCH SAFER than Rio...
Have heard about places in Chicago, Detroit... Never been there though... But I bet police in those cities are much better prepared to deal with crime than in Rio... I wouldn't count on and wouldn't trust any police in Rio... :biggrin_25512:
And I bet these cities don't have sooo many bums, and indigent people and families living on the sidewalks in ABSOLUTE misery as in the city of Rio...
Not to talk about the traffic in Rio... :biggrin_2554::biggrin_2552::biggrin_2555: It's INSANE... but that's another story...

Took this picture last time I was in the city of Rio... it's very "common" to see folks on the sidewalks like that...

Sometimes adults with babies and children "camping" on the sidewalks... Some are sick, with open wounds begging for money from the indifferent pedestrians... Children are raised on the streets and soon learn to steal, kill, sell drugs and sex...
That's what the pretty pictures and images about Rio don't show.... of course...
I wonder how they will "hide" all that during the Olympics in 2016... :biggrin_25523:
I guess that's why they are building an Olympic Village way south and will probably keep all the tourists over there...:biggrin_25523:

Little America xt68 WY it's 33 as the sun is setting

There is a reason BJJ (Brazilian jiu-jitsu) evolved in Rio. That has been a rough port city for a long time...
