I honestly didn't notice any construction at that exit compared to the construction zones in the 15-20 mile stretch of I-30 that I drove through to get here.

 

Nah... That wouldn't work... Tire repair place was some blocks away from company terminal where I was. Maintenance boss told me we had to take trailer there cause they wouldn't come to us... And I bet he wasn't happy about what driver did either... And I think Ms. Safety boss lady will not like to know driver had been driving for 4 months with a tire that bad...
He should have fixed that a loooong time ago... He also had a big long crack on the windshield/passenger side too... Said since crack was on the passenger side, that was ok... which I disagree... and said that tire threads in the middle were still ok... so, that wasn't a violation... IMO some DOT might not agree with that...
He said he is a "slick" talker who knows how to deal with DOT, and he has 10 yrs experience, blah, blah, blah... And said he had been running for 4 months like that and always got green light at the inspections... Oh yeah... our company does get green lights most of the time because of our awesome safety records... BUT once in a while they do inspect us and if they find violations, that will affect ALL of us and then we will not get green lights any more... Duh...
This is a very small company, less than 40 trucks and any violation makes a big impact on us...
At the end, 4 tires were replaced... One was bad and the other 3 were about to get bad too... It pssss me off what he did... I would not have done that to another driver...
Ohhh... about the 1 mph... it's their rule... This has not been the first time it happened... They have been very nice to me and "forgiven" previous times... So, I don't "blame" them for not giving me the bonus this time...

 

Had great conversation with Mr. PackRat on the phone today... Only thing is the quality of the sound of his phone wasn't very good and I missed some of what he said... But overall very good talking and helped me to stay awake for quite a while...
Now parked at a dirt lot next to a small fuel station somewhere on I-70 Colorado.... Wish I had some warm meal to eat now... but I'm sleepy and no desire to cook... Will have some apple with milk and go to bed... You all take care and stay safe...
