A rather unproductive day. Family Dollar in Odessa was in no hurry to unload me (you'd think for $190 they'd step it up a notch). They would normally deadhead me to El Paso from Odessa but Miss Vicky in dispatch found a Big Spring to Topeka, KS run. 42k of carbon going to Goodyear tires in Topeka. That sets me up to pick up a ProTrans load back home from Kansas City.
As you can see the shipper wasn't in any hurry either, which explains the 3pm delivery appointment tomorrow. Also.works since the ProTrans pickup probably won't be ready until 5.
Scaled out, picked up a cash advance got tolls and filled my drink jug at the Pilot there in Big Spring. After that I booked it, bound and determined to clear the Chickasha toll plaza before my 14 hour clock expired at 1930 hrs my time (cleared it at 1913 hrs!).
Took the Hamlin shortcut between Sweetwater and Wichita Falls (jumping on FM57, and TX92 between TX70 and US277). Had a scare when a big truck almost didn't stop at the FM57/US180 off ramp!
Shut down here at the Chickasha Service area on the H.E.Bailey. -
Maybe that will change some day if we are paid by the hr instead of per mile and customers will have to speed up their loading/unloading or pay a price.
TruckDuo, Dinomite and HeWhoMustNotBeNamed Thank this. -
Still at home with the endless truck repairs of late. Still chasing a mysterious a/c problem in the Freightliner. Started it up randomly over the weekend and it came on and worked every time. Until Tuesday when my son got in it to take it to the yard. Double ewe tee eff. Oh well, it's not like I need to be doing anything else I guess. Top it off, the KW came in with a boiling battery. Those Optima yellow tops that were supposed to last 5 yrs made it 20 months. One shorted and two more showing signs of having been hot. NAPA exchanged all four without any lip about it, so at least there was that bright spot yesterday. Sometime soon I'll need to get them off the garage floor and stuffed back in the box.
Cranky Yankee, TruckDuo, Rocks and 2 others Thank this. -
