Overnighting at the Columbia (SC) Travel Center. The reefer unit died on my son's trailer last week, so I swapped trailers with him and went about finding another one. Got that installed in the area this afternoon, along with an upgrade to a 50 gal fuel tank from a 30. So got all that done and maybe find something to break it all in with in the am.
So I pull in here because it's the only fuel within 50 or so miles that's in my fuel card network. I want to say this used to be a 76 truck stop in better times. Just seems a lot smaller than 30 yrs ago when this was my stop for wake up coffee on the way to a job site in Myrtle Beach. Anywhoo, I was gonna put 50 gals in the truck and top off my new, larger reefer tank and thought better of it as it appeared more sketchier up close than from I-20. Straight in parking + sorta rough around the edges, I elected to leave the fuel levels low for the night. Welcoming committee entrepreneurs came right out as soon as I pulled the brakes. Waved 'em off then walked the dog and turned in. Surprisingly quiet and lots of empty spaces. I don't run thru here often, but seems like an ok spot for a break.
I hate Peoplenet, where are you parked and recipes thread

if you are where I think you are I had fuel stolen out of my truck at that place while I slept a few years ago.RedForeman Thanks this. -
Kingdom City Mo. Yep Red that place has gone WAY downhill over the years. Pull on the other side of the shop near the hotel and you should have even less problems!
RedForeman and TruckDuo Thank this. -
Now that it's daylight I saw those spaces on the other side. Would have made for a shorter walk to McNasty. Caught myself chuckling at the senior breakfast club in there. Until I thought about it a minute that they aren't much older than me LOL. Also it seems TA took this place over recently, but hasn't yet done anything beyond some quick signs posted. Hopefully I'll gain a shower point with my fuel purchase in a minute. Say what you will about the big corp truckstops, but they bring the big money it takes to breathe new life into a place like this that's crumbling.

Hmmmm. Maybe not. Perhaps I should run from Hebron KY via Indy then drop down. Yeah. That seems like a better idea

Knoxville 75 to 64 to Louisville sure sucked. 8hrs from Knoxville to the loves at the 16 on 65
Radio chatter saying 65 down into Kentucky still shut and will be for a good long while.
Got enough ice driving practice this morning to last till next winter lol -
Off again. Gotta get north of Indy to get where I'm going with only one stop.
Sitting here watching all the guys looking for a parking spot trying to hit my truck in the process has been more stressful than driving on the ice lol there's only about 50 more trucks in here than they've got room for. -
