    All this technical stuff is not a bad thing really. When I was last out here I NEVER slept! I pulled tanks and after sitting in a refinery all day (or night) getting loaded, then waiting for the lab to release the load, and all the other hoops I had the jump through to get out of there, I then had to drive all night (r day) to deliver. that went aon and on and on. At least now you have to rest some.

    Yes.. E-log... on one hand it's good... However, my former company and my actual one would not force me (at least me) to drive illegal or if I couldn't even when I were on paper... I know most companies are not like that though...
    There's more technology out there.... the On guard is one of them.. that will make noises and slow down the truck and even stop it if truck gets too close to some object... I wouldn't drive a truck with that... it can malfunction or it may make "mistakes"... and cause accidents... And the cameras pointing inward... A friend of mine told me one of the companies she was considering working for, was considering those... She said, 'NO WAY..."

    @LadyNicole, @Rocks works for Carter Express.:biggrin_25512:

    We love On Guard. It tells the driver the exact speed of the vehicle in front of it. Since our truck is governed at 65 mph, it's a great tool in determining whether to attempt passing a vehicle or not.

    I hate the camera in the truck thing.

    Waiting on our next load in Elk Grove, IL then taking it to Sacramento, CA. I'll keep an eye out for @Cranky Yankee and @KAK

    @peterbilt_2005 forget giving him some cigs for diesel. I'll give you a gallon if you teach us guys on how to get our wives to agree to let us go to festivals like the one you went to.:biggrin_25514:

    I think all this new technology is making drivers "lazy"... relying too much on the instruments rather than on their own skills and own judgement... and when the freaking thing malfunctions, it can cause serious accidents... I wonder how it works on snow and icy roads... I heard some react to small objects on the ground as if they were vehicles...:biggrin_2552:
    I wouldn't drive anything with that... I like to feel I am on control of the truck... this was one of the reasons I left USXpress orientation... That freaking automatic transmission...:biggrin_25523:

    Driving at night for the last nights... it messes up a little with my biological clock but I love the "empty" roads and less interaction with the motoring public...

    And the truck stops are sooo wonderfully empty when I arrive... :)

    Like this one in IL... Fast something Plaza...

    [IMG]

    It was almost full when I left at midnight... :biggrin_2559:

    Now I am at this one... in PA

    [IMG]

    Moved truck 3 times till I found a spot I liked... :biggrin_2559:
    Taking my 34 here before delivery on Monday in NJ...
