Funny you should mention that ......

Just this morning for my first trip the dummy in the box couldn't figure out you have to get off the exit and go under the highway 1/2 mile to the customer. That would be too much trouble.

No, it thinks the best way to the customer is to stay on the highway and make a sharp turn OFF the bridge to the road 20ft below and then continue the 1/2 mile to the customer.

No wonder people who rely on these things end up in so much #### lol

While doing the scouting report for my second stop. I noticed the Navigo and the google maps had me going through what it seems. Residential neighborhoods. So I put the street view to work and both routes had no truck signs. Plotted out what seem to be the best option. Then I seen an even better option. So that's the way I took. Even though the hottie in the box kept advising me go a different direction.

Some how I thought I could be on i5 by 630. Nope still waiting for a door. What fun is going to Cali if you can't sit in LA traffic? Said nobody ever. Yee bloody hoo:).

You do have to be just a little smarter than the tool, for sure. Yesterday morning I got to deal with that with Garmin's "logic" about truck restrictions. By itself a minor annoyance. I know where I'm going and usually hit mute when inside I-285 in ATL. I would turn it off, but don't since I use it for IFTA. I was curious to see if the recently acquired 760 would handle it any different, and didn't mute yesterday. I forgot the dog has picked up on the fact that when the GPS gets chatty there is likely an opportunity to get out and water some grass coming up, and she starts jumping around to let me know she's ready. Just like the old 560, from Doraville to East Point it attempted to direct me off every exit along the way while flashing all sorts of important looking alerts.. The poor dog was just about as spastic as the GPS.

Well that is technically a GPS not Peoplenet Red......

Have you updated maps? I think they all ship with out of date maps.

Which gives better direction the Garmin or the Dog?

Well I guess in defense of the dummy in the box, to turn off the bridge and drop 20 ft to the road below would be both the shorter and quicker route to the customer lol

Can't let the e-loggin Peoplenet types enjoy having all the misery. Maps and software are updated regularly. Just the usual routing quirks just about any navigational tool will have, given limited data and dependency upon the common sense of the operator. In this case, they have carried over a "feature" that chooses the shortest route within a truck restricted area to a waypoint inside it. That was not the route I was taking.

The dog knows little about directions. Although she does recognize/remember landmarks. She knows the exit to the home terminal, from both directions. She gets extra stupid, since she knows at that stop we're probably getting in the little truck and away from the big one for a while. On the way home, she knows we're getting close anywhere within a few miles and starts acting up. They're often smarter than they let on.

That's absolutely the truth. I take the big boy or the border anywhere in the car and the last 2 miles in to the house they're out the window and tails waggin and the border is in my lap trying to 'help' me drive that last 2 miles lol I think they smell the house and 'their' neighborhood.

Just talked to a guy from the old company. He just drug a load 650 miles the wrong direction to the wrong customer. An HV load too. Doesn't say much for their HV load tracking that nobody noticed that one going 650 miles in the wrong direction does it? Many wrists will get slapped over that one and maybe a head or 2 roll

Dropped and swapped and off to Leesport. Again. Ugh. Maybe the trucking gods will smile upon me and I get in and out this time......but I doubt it.
