I am kinda pssed.... because of my responsibilities in two countries and I can't be in both at same time... :biggrin_25523:

Yesterday I spent ALL day walking like a "baker's mule"... it's an old saying here... when bakers used to walk with their mules selling bread from door to door...
At the end of the day, all that walking "took care" of my sciatica pain last night.... But got sooooo exhausted.... I collapsed in bed at the end of the day... But still spent some time in the evening at an art-craft fair nearby.... visited a very "old" friend of mine... an artisan lady who has a booth at the fair.... It was like going back to a very old chapter of my life... GOSH... sometimes it feels like that was in my previous "incarnation"... :biggrin_25523:

After much thinking, I realize that my dad's house is in absolute no condition to be rented out again... :biggrin_25512: And in order to be sold, my dad would have to change his deed... which he agrees.... BUT.... that is a long and difficult process here and for someone living under his physical conditions and in the middle of nowhere, so far away from the house and everything else... and considering the lengthy bureaucracy in this country... I would have to stay in Brasil much longer than my FMLA permits to take care of all that...
And this is not counting selling the house... Which is another pain in the neck... Not having anybody that I can trust to take care of this for me... it's very difficult to find someone that is HONEST and not a crook in this place... seems that all real state agencies around here don't do NOTHING... other than collect the money for themselves... :biggrin_25510:
If I would to sell this house TODAY, I think I would get very little money... not enough to justify me staying here and losing my job with my company... My company told me they would re-hire me... But I am not leaning towards staying here for who knows how long for that...
On the other hand, if I just keep this house locked and try to ignore it... It will become even more destroyed because of the fast corrosion in this area... not to speak about the home invasions that happen in this area... And once a house is invaded here... FORGET IT... :biggrin_25510:

This is the view from the window on second floor facing the ocean...

IMO, dad didn't plan this house very well... :biggrin_25512:

    Looking to the northeast...

Grass and plants are growing outside... and some garbage too... House needs outside painting again... and inside too...

Some door locks are soo rusted... Couldn't open... will have to replace some...

Everything is rusted and corroded... Doors, windows, hinges... :biggrin_25521:

A lot needs to be replaced... :biggrin_25510: And to think that I had all that done a little over 2 yrs ago...

Now all the plumbing will need to be replaced... and all the wiring and electrical...

    There's too much... :biggrin_25521:
The beach in front of the house is not very "appealing" for tourists... The ground drops very quickly and the tide pull very strong... not very safe...

A view of the house from the beach... I deleted the house to the left so not to confuse...

Walked a few miles on the beach yesterday... Time for thinking... and more thinking...

No place to eat... went hungry all day yesterday... Well... whatever... I'm used to starvation...

Went out today... needed to make long distance phone calls but the place with phone booths was closed... Today is Sunday... :biggrin_25510:
Church was full... I didn't go in...

And everybody else going to the beaches...

I'm not in the mood to go to any beach... Had MORE THAN PLENTY of that throughout my life... Will just hang in my hotel room for now... and will swing by the restaurant nearby later for lunch... Looking forward to Monday so I can continue taking care of business here... And hoping dad's doctor will fill out the form that I can send to the flight company so I can go ahead and buy dad and his companion tickets to come here... I could really use his opinion on what to do about this freaking house...

I wasn't there when he became president... I remember before that... He had no college, couldn't even speak right, he was a blue collar worker, involved with the Union and a representation of blue collar people... Back then, in the 80's I think, I voted for the PT (his party)... He was from the left, friends with Fidel... and had socialist ideas... What I heard from Brazilian folks the times I visited Brasil, most of the poor class folks were "happy" with him, on his first years in power... He created some kinda social programs to "help" specially poor families... But many others didn't like his administration and thought the country was still the same... Same corruption, same lies, same inflation, same lack of jobs... I haven't followed Brazilian politics since when I left that country... It seems he did a much... MUCH better job than his successor, Dilma Rousseff... But still, once in power, he lied like any other politician... The only good Brazilian president, IMHO was Mr. Tancredo Neves, murdered after winning the election and the truth was hidden from the public forever... People were made believe that he suddenly got sick and died.... when the truth is, he was shot by the military... He would be the very first civilian to become a Brazilian president... and he was a very decent and honest man... maybe the only one... :biggrin_2557:

Dilma Rousseff seems like a hot mess. I was very surprised when she got re-elected. The future of Brazil seemed promising in the 2000s but under her it seems to have no direction.
