My friend got a coco nut from one of the trees in his yard and prepared me a WONDERFUL coco nut juice... YUM! YUM! YUM!
Some graphic art on the wall in front of his house... The drawings show the mountains in that area, Pedra da Gavea, the canal and common birds there...
We went out to another island for pizza at night... Then, he walked around showing me the place... Lots of narrow narrow alleys like a maze, with lots of vegetation and lots of cats...
Unfortunately my camera doesn't take good pictures at night...
Many rustic restaurants near the water... on both sides of the canal... some had live music one could hear everywhere...
And lots of drawings on the walls...
After a hot night with no power in his house and lots of annoying mosquitoes flying around me... I left late morning...
We took his little boat to cross to the shore...
Nice house... don't know if it is a condo, an inn or if it belongs to one family...
On the other side of the canal... a slum with several shacks...
Those birds come near the fishermen for fish...
At shore, took a bus and passed by Rocinha slum... one of the biggest slums in the world... But couldn't take a good picture from the bus...
Tourists come from all over the world to tour this slum... It's very famous... Even Google satellite has mapped this slum and included lots of businesses that there are there...
Bus took the avenue in front of Leblon beach... It was a cloudy and rainy Sunday... nevertheless folks were enjoying the day... Running, bicycling, skating, joggling... playing ball, etc, etc... etc...
On weekends one of the avenues in front of those beaches, Leblon, Ipanema and Copacabana are closed for traffic and open for pedestrians only...
There are play grounds set on the street for kids too...

Part of my trip to my past included going to the old and "famous" Ipanema Hippy Fair in.... IPANEMA... I had a booth there too in the late 80's...
Some folks recognized me... I recognized others... and others are gone... Hundreds of booths... Lots of unknown faces... And lots of "gringos"... I mean, foreign tourists...
I spent some time chatting with some folks in their booths... And even "helped" some of them to sell to American tourists... Sold necklaces to a couple of American ladies at one booth... Sold some art-craft to another American lady from CA at another booth... Then, I stopped at one booth to buy some souvenirs and ended up selling a lot of stuff to a group of 6 guys from Brooklyn, NY...
In return, the owners of the merchandize gave me a HUGE discount on my purchase... :smt023
That was like a trip to the past... I felt like living some of those old times again... But I like what I do now...
After all that, stopped at a great vegetarian restaurant and ate like a Queen!
Lots of food that I can't find in the USA at all...
Since I was traveling thru some of my past again, I decided to walk pass by one of my elementary schools in Copacabana...
And then, on the same street, took a picture of another slum... Rio is surrounded by slums...
Then, walked to the avenue in front of Copacabana beach... just for a picture... But the clouds were covering the top of Sugar Loaf mountain...
On Copacabana avenue, took a picture of the first place where I lived when I was born... That building nowadays have bars at the entrance which are open only by the door man who sits inside the building... Most buildings in Rio are like those... They have cameras to monitor who rings the bell outside... All that security to prevent robbery... Nevertheless, some thieves still get in...
Copacabana avenue is very loooooooong and incredibly busy with traffic and people on week days... Not so on a Sunday.
On a weekday I would take the subway instead of a bus...
A not very spectacular view of Sugar Loaf mountain seen from the bus...
Candelaria Church... in downtown Rio...
Took a bus back to my hotel Cabo Frio this evening...
Now back at the hotel... it has been raining "cats and dogs" for hrs out there... will have some meal and go to bed soon... Gotta get busy early tomorrow...tsavory, RedForeman, Ukumfe and 3 others Thank this. -
Well Volvo still can't figure out what's wrong with my truck so I'll be stuck with #236 for a bit longer.
TruckDuo Thanks this. -
Dang it man that nice new truck spends more down time one repair than this 19 year old 1.83 million mile truck does all year

Your best bet will probably be the Vince Lombardi on the Turnpike. Unfortunately you said "good" place so this doesn't really answer your question. Loltsavory Thanks this.

LOL
The boss man mentioned switching over to Volvo because he has had with our T-660's..
better hire new drivers to put in those things because none of us will be staying if you do switch..
tsavory Thanks this. -
Apparently this has never happened before. None of the other 2015 trucks have had any issues with the dash/audio system.
Luckily it happened while it was in our shop and not while I had the truck.[emoji4]tsavory Thanks this. -
yeah, that could have been a lengthy and expensive hotel stay out on the road..
