I have a felony can I get hired to drive a truck?

That may be an especially difficult felony for employers to accept especially in El Paso, for obvious reasons. Violent, trafficking/smuggling, and terrorism related convictions are tough. Do you have a CDL or you are thinking
There is ALWAYS some company somewhere that will hire you, but sometimes their pay and conditions are so bad YOU won't take it.
Don't just look at OTR trucking companies, but look also at construction/dump truck, "garbage" trucks, landscaping operations that need a CDL driver.

I'm curious, why did you wait until AFTER CDL school to ask the question? Did the CDL school ask about convictions and what did they say?

 

You won't be able to apply for a hazmat endorsement for seven years from the date of conviction, or five years from your release date if you were incarcerated. Some companies require a hazmat endorsement so make that one of your search criteria.

How did you get caught? If the border patrol catch you you lose your CDL for life.
