That's not good. It's also a bit on you for not asking before you started or delaying starting until you knew the answer. There are tons of questions like yours where it seems the first thing someone does AFTER failing a drug test, getting a conviction, or serious traffic ticket/accident is enroll in CDL school and then later ask if that will limit their job prospects. I always recommend every one find the job in trucking that fits them before going to CDL school. The goal is a good job, the school is just a box to be checked on the way to that good job. 99% of people don't even start looking for a job until after school and far too many CDL graduates seem to take months or years to go get their first job, which is a terrible idea.
You can find a job, but you have to make good choices. Employers will use you like a paper napkin. It's your job to protect your CDL. With one strike against you you cannot afford to ever hit something or add traffic tickets and work anywhere but the worst places. I think you can do it.Last edited: Nov 14, 2024

When I was in truck school we had a guy that did time for 2nd degree murder. He had a job lined up already though as he was gonna drive the bus for his church and they sent him to school for it. Anything can happen. Think Carolina Cargo is a second chance company that hires felons.ChrisNewTrucker and tscottme Thank this.

I hate to say this, but I think this is too big of a mountain to climb. A reputable company may not want to take a chance on you because of having this type of charge. I hate that they might not, because people pay their debts to society and they do change for the better. It's just being in a blood thirty, unforgiving at times country, the road to redemption is very hard. All that being said, I hope that someone will take a chance on you. Apply to any and every company. You may get a bunch of "nos," but it takes only 1 yes. Try these folks here.......
