    Wonderful little story....or resume...whatever.

I don't feel the need to tell you my life story. Why? Cuz its pretty textbook and boring to ppl like you. But if you think I am some kind of criminal...you got another thing coming. I live with integrity and respect. You can read into that all you want, cuz at the end of the day, that is all what matters.

I have four felony thefts, eight grand theft autos, twelve DUIs in the last ten days, and I ran over a mini van of nuns just this morning. Which one of the wonderful companies out there owes me my job? Oh, and I demand a brand new KW W900 that's been opened wide up, no loads further than 200 miles from my house, and a gauranteed paycheck of no less than $1500 for each day I stay out! Because I deserve it, that's why!

Did I mention the 45 speeding tickets in the past year? Man, them coppers is always out ta get me.

Regardless of what your attorney got it reduced to or what your record says, it is a conviction. You couldn't be on probation or making restitution if you were not guilty. This being said, once the case is disposed of, it well may be a plus for you that it was handled the way it was.

No trucking company will hire someone whose case has not been disposed of, meaning still on probation or paying restitution. Most companies won't hire you until it's 3 years old, many 5 years old, some 7 - 10 years old and some will never hire you.

As for the Hazmat rules it isn't that confusing, they wrote them that way to cover cases like yours so there would be no confusion.

Time to prove you won't repeat your behavior is the only thing that will improve your situation. If you have a bad military discharge, that can be a deal-breaker for many jobs. Time is the main thing on your side. It won’t fix everything but it goes a long way. I’m sure not perfect enough to throw stones at you, just trying to give you an objective evaluation based on my opinions and research.

Since I have been in a position to hire people in a service job let me offer some advice. When time has passed and you are setting on the other side of the desk trying to get that driving job, be strait forward about this incident. Cover it, admit guilt, take responsibility, and touch on lessons learned. Then quickly move on and sell yourself based on your strengths. When I have been in a position to hire, with the ability to do so, I personally will give someone a second chance if they do that and convince me that I should.

I know a guy who built one. I didn't see it, he just told me about it. I would NOT recommend this, but here's what he said.

Old fire extinguishers used to have a schrader valve for adding compressed air to push out the powdery stuff. He cleaned one out and filled it 3/4 with gasoline, and put 120 psi of air in it. Using a propane torch as an ignition source, he said the flames were shooting about 30 feet. :biggrin_2556:

Actually I haven't signed up for any truck driving school yet. I figured my record would be a problem, seems to be everywhere I go, no matter what career field. I've actually been calling truck driving companies and telling them everything that is on my criminal and driving record. There is no point in lying about it. But yeah, I didn't realize that I was considered a "Convicted Felon." Guess that means I don't have to go to jury duty next month. But if you read my probation terms, I still have the right to vote and the right to own a firearm, I just cant purchase additional firearms. I'm just going to find a different career field to keep my busy for a while and if I still want to become a truck driver later I will do so in 3 years, That is when I am eligible for Hazmat. Thanks for the advice everyone

I am not completely familar with the terms of your case. It could well be when you have satisfied the terms of the agreement it will disappear and you won't be considered a convicted felon. Right now while you are serving out your sentence it will be hard to hide.

If I were you, I would get the restitution paid and see what it looks like then. Don't give up and keep us updated on what happens. For me your situation is unique and I doubt most of us understand it's disposition very well.

It was one big drunken blur. My Ex-Wife was a cheating #####, got in a fight with her and apparently poured out a 2 gallon gas can and set fire to it. It burnt the grass and one piece of plywood on the outside of the house had smoke damage. Hardly Arson if you ask me. But that is Coryell County for you, they love throwing the book at people in the military. I was already in the process of getting kicked out of the Army so this had nothing to do with that. Was staying in Gov't housing at Fort Hood and the MP's caught my ex-wife having drugs in the house, one roach and a pipe to be exact. It all went down hill from there, since I had gotten drunk the day before and decided to smoke a joint. Yeah, that joint costed me a lot of money. lol
