I want options pro AND con.

Right now these are my choices, there might be better, time is of an essence here.

CRST: I am not concerned about teams. My son is with them now and we would be teamed together.

Central Frig: They appear to pay more out the gate. School is local for me (well somewhat local)

Swift: Not being able to put converters in the truck might be an issue.

What does one offer the other doesn't? I know the are driver mills.. I know lifestyle can be harse.. I have actually listened to you all.. I need a job and these are my choices. If these were the last three trucking companies left which would you work for?

From all that I have read here I am leaning toward Central, but I really do want opinions.

They all have L/O programs: I know how to run a business. I did for years before the current state of the economy killed it, so would leasing be a good deal or should I hold out for O/O?

Look at all the threads here dealing with leasing. No, No, No, No, No!!!!

Why is it everyone comes here, says they've researched the threads and still ask if they should lease/purchase. AAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!!!:biggrin_25525::biggrin_2559:

90% of the time it's based on the fact people don't have business experience and I haven't seen to many responses from people who do lease. I am asking based on the fact I have business experience. Something you would have seen if you weren't blinded by the word lease. Leasing is a way of life in the computer industry.

Guess what, you need to get your blinders checked. This is NOT the computer industry nor does running a lease/purchase truck bear any resemblance to leasing a piece of #### office equipment.

But hey.... since you are so much smarter than we folks who have been in the trucking industry for many many years and have watched smart people after smart people get ruined by this "plan", you go right ahead.

And don't ask for Con responses when all you want is someone to agree with you.

How do you know it's 90%? I've been part of the industry since 1991, and I don't know that. Yet I hear it/read it all the time. I hear "They failed because they didn't read their lease." Maybe that's true, maybe it isn't.

How do you think your business experience will help you?

Have you asked yourself why you want to lease or consider becoming an owner-operator?

I'm a total newbie myself (haven't started school yet) but I know if I had a family member or good friend to drive team with I would do that. As long as you and your son get along great together, and you are sure you would be able to team with him once you were hired, it seems that should be your clear choice. If you decide not to team with your son, all my research has led me to Central Ref as the place to go.

"I know how to run a business. I did for years before the current state of the economy killed it "

I would say you might not know how to run a business , many survived the economic downturn.

Leasing a truck to generate income is a bit different than leasing a computer as Kittyfoot noted.

    I want cons, not criticism..

As for that #### piece of office equipment. It amazes me that people who chastise others for not knowing their business are so quick to judge others on a business they know nothing about. The stuff I had to lease to run my business cost way more than your truck, and depreciated a lot faster; however, please forgive me for having mere office equipment.

Now if you can't give me a civil answer don't answer at all.

I know how its done , just want to see your BIZ experience.
