Yes I have and that is why I am asking questions. If leasing is so bad why is it still offered as an option? That question has yet to be answered for me. I won't sign a lease till a lawyer explains it to me. Right now I just want to know why is it still offered if it's the absolute worse option!!

Thats an easy answer the company lets you make the payment on "their" truck while you run it and pay them. When you fail they get the truck back and make more money re-leasing it to some poor sap out of school who listens to that you'll make 90,000 a year.

Drive with your son. If for only 8 months..... Later, you wont regret it. As far as leasing goes, not everyone who ever leased a truck posts on here, so there might be a lot of success stories. Maybe you could be a success story as a l/p operator. I bet you would do well.

I can't say that leasing is the absolute worst option; I'm not sure what that means. Without being cynical, I think that leasing is offered by carriers because it's good for them. They take a truck and a driver off the books. All expenses are then covered by the lessee/lessor. He/she/they is/aren't employees anymore, with the all the tax benefits for the carrier of that arrangement.

I salute your caution, but will you be able to take a lease to an attorney (I mean, will the carrier allow you time to do that?). Will the attorney understand enough about the industry to properly advise you? I'm asking, not bashing.

Well, let me first say I have a few family members and close friends with whom I have lived and worked closely, so I know already how well we get along and there wouldn't be any stress or problems between us. If I could team with one of those people it would be great.
As to why, I can think of some really good reasons, not the least of which is I've heard you make more money driving team! I'm also sure the companionship would be nice, I see people on here saying driving can get lonely. Then there's safety. It seems truckstops can be a little scary sometimes and two people walking through the parking lot at one in the morning are bound to be safer than someone alone. Also, help and encouragement when you are starting out and felling unsure of yourself; you've always got a second opinion handy when you need it.

two people walking through the parking lot

This is not always the case or possible , with a lot of companies a high $ load cannot be left unattended in most cases , while your awake chances are your co driver is sleeping

Regardless of how well you know someone or get along with them , there is STRESS , late delivery , load not ready , truck breakdowns , problems at home , all add to disp[ell the CAREFREE IDEA what trucking is like in the Movies

Business acumen counts for NOTHING when your income is restricted to an unrealistically low amount -- say 90 cents per mile. Hell, say $1.20 per mile, it still won't work. You will work yourself into the ground trying to make it work and it's all on your dime. Foolish.

Unless your at SWIFT for $1.15 / mile FSC in as others on this site seem to think they are making a killing.
