I have a few questions about step decks

    I'm glad I got the steel frame and the sliding rear axle.
    I keep reading/hearing that 1 crack in an aluminum frame and you have a paperweight.
    Also for tire wear and tight turns the tight axles are nice. I can spread if the weight gets high, I'll just have to grab a Florida permit for the spacing if that's the case.
    Overall I like it. 6 ramps that turn into levelers once I buy the kit. Like one person here said, they don't even mention it's a step deck when they book flatbed loads. Think they said turned away 3 times in 5 years for not having a flat? It was that comment that made me decide on the step. I like flexibility.
    I also knew I wanted 22.5's. the nightmares I have heard on 17.5 wheels are scary.

    I'm still reading, so any extra tips are welcome.
    For the record I'm not planning to fool with tarps. Unless the market gets so bad that I am forced to.

    Wow. that’s a fear of mine using my ramps. My seats were welded on by east though. Ive bent pins before, never lost the ramps or a load thankfully. I also never Ran a 963 up my ramps and wouldn’t most likely.

    It ripped the whole ### end of his trailer apart. And everyone felt he deserved it because he was always talking about taking rgn loads on his step. Now he’s out of business.

    $3000 repair put him out of business? Sounds like a poorly run business.

    I know what you're talking about, kingpin permit for trailers longer than 48' with more than 41' kingpin to rear axle spacing. It's about $35 bucks for the annual.

    But if you check your atlas, Florida also gives 40k lbs + 10% tolerance on a tandem. Close er up at the line & roll..

    Southbound Jasper coop on i75 just reopened after a major refit. They welcomed me home with a 5min platform stay 2 weeks ago for "look'n long" lol.. Brought out the tape before they let me on my way..

    Can you even buy the permit if you have a slider? I thought you had to have fixed axles.
