Having raised Rottweilers since '90 , I have had the opportunity for close observation of these dogs from birth to death. A well socialized Rottweiler becomes the protector of the neighborhood, and develops relationships with everyone. Rottweilers whom stay chained or caged will become unpredictable and aggressive. Rottweilers have a drive to be with its master ,being a social animal he becomes unhinged without. Mixed breed Rottweilers appear to be far more aggressive. Female Rottweilers are more protective.Rottweilers just like humans have rules you need to follow while in their territory. Never assume you can touch, wait to be asked. Don't raise your voice. Slowly move hands when talking . Make sure it's ok with dog before touching his family. Most important two of all, no fast movement and do not touch my food. The dog will let you know when he's comfortable with you. Also realize they don't bark at you with intent to bite, barking is his way of telling you this is my territory, look at me I am ferocious so be wise, and I am telling my master of your intrusion.

Tell them it's a hound mix. I've had my pit at 5 different companies without any issues at all. 4 of them didn't even ask what breed she was. I told the 5th that she is a hound mix, and that was the end of it.

I also did want to point out that pitbulls are very dangerous. Mine has attacked me numerous times.

In this picture, I caught her right before she chewed my face off

And here she is in the process of attacking

As you can see. Very VERY vicious creatures.

Exactly. Dogs are animals obviously. Sometimes they get confused and attack. Other times their instincts force them to fight. But why buy a dog who was breed to fight if you don't need that? If you need a junk yard dog then get a pit. If you want a best friend that people won't actively avoid for fear of being bitten get another breed. And op didn't like what everyone was saying so he made another thread lol.

Can you teach a pit bull to be a rabbit dog? Or point like a bird dog?

They make good catch dogs for hog hunting. Like any dog, Pits do best when they are socialized young, understand their place in your "pack," and know exactly what is expected of them.

All the pitbull hate will wither away when the media finds a new target. When I was a kid it was Dobermans. In the early 1900's it was Bloodhounds. Meanwhile the most reported breed for bites? Golden Retrievers. (At least in the last report I saw, circa 2005).

The crap IS scary. People can't get it through their heads that certain breeds need an Alpha, not a friend. Some breeds you almost borderline gotta be mean to. That's what gains those breeds respect and really forms a bond. Now if you had a ####er spaniel, maybe not so much haha
