So Kurt Russell is going to save us? Speaking of a Bad Dog , wasn't he in the movie The Shaggy Dog?
I have a pit bull, no I'm not a thug.

when I was kid, 5 or 6, there was this neighbor, a married couple that were law enforcement officers. they had 2 k 9 dogs - german shepherds. those dogs seemed to always be viciously barking with a snarl and a growl. I got to where I ignored it. kids ride bicycles and play in the street, they didn't like that.
one day a ball landed in their yard, I walked up to the front door and knocked to get permission to go and get it. I had forgotten about the dogs until I knocked. no one answered the dogs were at the window next to the door doing their thing.
I figured since no one answered I try later. I turned and walked away. those got worse. about the time reached the street I heard glass breaking. I looked back to see those dogs had almoat made it through the glass.
I took off running. I heard the final crash of that glass with both dogs after me. my mother ran out and yelled stop. she called my name stop now, don't move, then it please stop now.
so I came to a dead halt. my mothers voice was trembling with the words dont move a.muscle there they were right on my tail they.sniffed me and stared me up and down for a few and went back to the house.
my mom said to stay right where I was at while she made a phone call. when she came back it was ok to go. to this day I have no idea how she knew that but it worked.tucker and tommymonza Thank this. -
In Ohio born and raised; wife's from SRQ where I met her. Travesty how they've stereotyped different breeds through the years; the county NEXT to mine is trying to ban Pits. Even mixed breeds. Never had a dobie, but can't say I wouldn't if the opportunity arose.
Thanks, man. -
My dad has always had dogs so been around them for life. One hung he always said is never run from a dog ,good chance your not faster than it.
Tell you a funny story
Went up to Michigan on a whim from Florida. I have 4 best friends up there from 30 years ago and I like to surprise them.
So I go to pop in on one of my old buddies who lives out in the country that had a Bull Mastif and a couple other dogs.
I knock on his door about 10 am no answer ,within seconds I have the Mastiff that I have never met me and 2 other good size dogs on the porch greeting me with the snarl of CueJoe.
I am screwed , I am a 100 feet from my car and they are between me.all I could picture was my big Mag lite in my truck a 100 feet away
Instinct tells me don't move.
I call out Jack. Oh jack, jack help oh jack help jack jack.
This goes on for 5 minutes with no answer , meanwhile CueJoe is licking his chops and letting me know not to move 1 inch.
After 5 minutes a very hungover wife of my buddy wakes up and says Tommy what the hell ? Jack went golfing at 7.
If she hadn't been there I would have rotted away not moving.

I was working as a security guard in an apartment complex in San Jose, CA.
He was great around my little kids, and friendly to everyone.
His career began as a police dog in Germany.
The manager of the complex brought Reverend with him when he moved to the U.S..
A couple years before I started working there there was an incident in which someone (from a small group of bad guys) pulled a knife on one of the guards. (Yes, a bad part of San Jose...)
Rev responded as he was trained to do, with a certain command word, and went right for the arm holding the knife.
He latched on just above the elbow.
That arm had to be amputated because it was so mutilated.
It was a nice feeling having such a well trained dog at my side.
One day as I was walking him on my rounds he suddenly attacked a small child.
The boy had an empty milk jug and had raised it over his head. I guess that Rev thought it was a threat.
Luckily he was on a short leash and the only damage was a torn coat.
That ended his career.
I think it also ended the career of that manager.
They were both a bit senile in their older years.
Not that it has anything to do with this thread. I simply had an interesting story in my past to share about dogs and violence.
Reverend was a trained killer from the beginning. And his Master, I think, was of the same 'breeding'. -
wore out Thanks this.

Afraid of discipline for children. Afraid of being a bad parent, so they try to be friends. Afraid of being hurt, so they cannot trust. You see these threads too. They will trade freedom for "safety".
The whole dog argument is based on fear. "Oh, that dog might go off." Well, that dog owner might go off too. But in typical fearmonger fashion they resort to the old salem witch trials method.
How do people go through life living in fear?
"So Six, what should be done if some kid gets chewed up by a vicious dog?"
The olde way was to put the animal down and put the owner down too. Problems are solved. -
Punk kid got what he deserved.Chinatown Thanks this.
