I am not a trucker and I live outside of town and don't know anyone that is. SO the reason for this thread is i was wondering if truckers haul stuff for people? Such as you go one way drop off your cargo and then you have any empty trailer going back. Do you pick up stuff for people that need something delivered as long as its on your route or close? Or is there something out there to communication with people to know what needs to be hauled or if there is anything to be hauled? I would really appreciate any response always wondered, thanks.
I have a question?

now my friend that is a fair question and ill try to answer it for you.
if it is a company truck chanches are he wont haul your freight simply because he would probably get fired for one reason or another how ever if the truck belongs to the driver chanches are if it dosent take him to much out of the way he will haul it .
if he is an independent such as i am with his own authority yes he will most definatly haul your freight the problem comes when a person wants somthing hauled they think it can be hauled for free they have no idea what a truck cost or what it cost to operate it and that becomes a problem it cost just as much to run the truck north as it does south and so on.
but a trucker is here to make money and a lot of times he will jump at the chance to make an extra buck. i sure do.
luck to you southernpride -
The only other caveat (it would for me anyhow) is that I'd need to make darn sure what it is you're shipping. For insurance coverage if nothing else. These days folks are up to all kinds of stuff and I wouldn't want to get stopped on roadside with a couple sealed boxes full of kiddie porn, drug stuff, etc. In the past couple of weeks I've seen several trucks pulled over (especially around Nashville) with John Law going through the trailer and load. People lie about stuff all the time and I ain't going to jail for a couple of "easy bucks".
