i saw this ad in the the north dakota craigslist looking for water haulers and one thing caught my eye that i hope someone here can explain to me. "We pay $26 per hour billed" what does that mean? specifically the word "billed" at the end, why is that added on their like that?

    thank you

that's what we call ticket time down here. that means instead of getting paid for the number of hours you actually work on the clock, you get paid for the number of hours that were billed to your customers for loads you delivered. the way it works down here in west texas usually benefits the driver because the company will often bill for more hours than it actually took you to deliver the load. so in a 12 hr shift you may get paid for 24 hrs. i think this is to encourage drivers to do as many loads in a day as possible instead of taking your sweet time on every load riding out the clock. at 26/hr that is really ######. i've never heard of a company water hauler down here getting paid anywhere near that. so it makes me wonder if maybe up there your loads will actually take longer to deliver than the time on the ticket, or maybe there aren't thT many loads to doin a shift. if not, sounds like great pay to me for a pretty easy job. i'd be curious to hear how it actually works out there.. you should try to get in touch with one of their drivers and ask how it works for them..if they get oaid for more hours than they worked.

First off, don put "i have a question" as you subject. you on a forum, we all have a question. Secondly, ask them. It could mean they bill 26/hour and you get paid when they get paid. It could mean you bill the customer directly for 26/hour. It could mean were billing 26 and giving it all to you. Miht just mean you need to bill them to get paid.

nope it doesn't mean any of those things. customers pay for the cost of the load and a delivery charge based on the time it took to deliver. the customer doesnt know exactly how long it took and usually they dont care because it's their bosses' money. so it's pretty standard to exaggerate delivery time to make more money for the water hauling company, and some of them are nice enough to pass this extra money onto the driver. if the customer doesnt like it they can find another company to deliver their water

    freepatriot76 Thanks this.
