When you go, they will write the script on form in case you wish to get glasses. You can always call them and ask.
If your long distance is a little fuzzy, but can see near - near sighted.
If your long distance is clear, but near is fuzzy - far sighted.
I would suspect you are sightly near sighted.
I have a serious question about wearing corrective lenses

You are going to want to be able to see clearly.. you want to be able to easily read mile markers, as well as street names and a host of other signed.. you will also want to be able to clearly see and read your map, Qualcomm or logs easily..
Keep in mind.. your eyes will get tired and fatigued and any vision problems will be worse when your eyes are tired..
If I were you.. and my vision was borderline.. I would have a couple pairs of glasses with me at all times.. -
and I only have 1 pair of glasses, don't have the money to have more than 1 pair, having only have 1 pair of glasses has always worked in the past 23 years. -
every 6 years??? eyes need to be checked every 2 years. 1 year as you get older.
i can see also. i don't need glasses to drive. i'm far sighted. 2060 and 2040 without my glasses.
you see worse when you take your glasses off. becuase your eyes are refocusing to your bad vision. get in an accident with a CMV. and you could find yourself in BIG trouble if your supposed to be wearing your glasses.
i'm like you. wore glasses my whole life. NOT. untill i hit 40 and could no longer focus close up. -

If you don't have perfect vision, you should be wearing corrective lenses. I have both contacts and glasses. I don't use contacts when driving trucks because the correction is much better with the glasses. Especially if you have any astigmatism correction. I carry two pairs of glasses and a new set of contacts as a backup to my backup.
Besides the other problem of never being able to keep hands clean enough for handling contacts, or that I could probably sweat into my glasses while looking straight up.
ETA: My doc forgot to check the box on my med card for corrective lenses. So my CDL says I need them but not the medical card LOL. Since I can't see well without glasses, I doubt I will be caught violating that vision restriction. -

I have a very minor correction in both my distance and reading lenses (bifocals), can pass the DMV eye exam without my glasses and sometimes drive without them. But I don't drive a truck. I would also never forego them if I was driving at night or anywhere farther than an hour or so. The eye strain can be deadly.
I don't really buy the excuses for not having a second pair. There are too many places around the country that do the buy one, get one sales, even with bifocals. Exams for regular glasses aren't that expensive, even in high cost of living areas. My last exam in Miami (a couple months ago), which is an expensive city, only cost 40 bucks and two pairs of glasses (bifocals) cost $99. You're driving a truck and you're trying to go hazmat. It's your responsibility to make sure you stay safe and don't do anything that endangers the public around you. Honestly, if you were my employee I'd have reservations about sending you out on the road. -
don't need to tell me how much glasses are. but i can tell you how hard it is to find frames that i like. for some reason. no one wants what i wear. -
So I do have some frames that were expensive at first (one pair Featherlite, the other old-school Raybans). Last eye exam changed the rx and I went to an online lab for new lenses and saved about 70% over the quote from the eye doc. With two pairs I could wait a week or two and get them upgraded one at a time.
Truth be told, I'm not all that picky about frames if I'm short on money. What gripes me is the cheaper ones never fit well and are very uncomfortable. I can live with ugly glasses. Good luck finding ones that don't give me headaches or rub blisters on my nose.
