so i am scheduled for an interview with UPS. we all know the circumstances behind my accident. there really was no way to avoid it, i was never issued a ticket, and full blame was placed on the irresponsible 4 wheeler who literally drove into my truck.

am i wasting my time by going to the interview or is that something they would over-look considering the circumstances? i wished there was a phone number with a live person i could inquire. if i have no chance of being hired, i dont want to completely waste my time going to an interview. only if i have a realistic chance of getting a job, if i so decide to leave my current position.

if they were to hold this incident against me (considering the nature of the incident) is it really a company a driver wants to work for anyways? i have to admit i was rather pissed off at the guy for not paying attention, i had a very clean license until then.

I don't think you are wasting your time. You weren't found at fault so it is what it is. I say go for it.

I could be mistaken as it has been 17 years since I interviewed and was hired there, but I don’t recall them asking me. I do know on the application it asks but hopefully you explained you were not at fault. If they had a problem they wouldn’t be calling you for an interview. Don’t volunteer anything they don’t ask you.

When and if they ask you tell them. I assume you already reported it when you applied. If you have documentation that it wasn’t your fault, I would keep it with you in case they do ask you about the circumstances.

i feel its much better to put this type of thing out in the open and disclose the incident, its not like it was "at fault". the last accident i was involved in was probably 4 years ago in a car. i was stationary at a red light and a car 2 cars back failed to stop (not paying attention), she hit the car behind me and that car hit the back of my car. these people are a joke with their driving. terrible drivers. i had an "at fault" accident in a car when i was a 19 year old kid, that was almost 20 years ago. it amazes me that adults drive as bad as they do. it is not something that should be held against a truck driver when some clown isnt doing what they are supposed to be doing. on their cell phone, looking for a dropped cigarette, a woman lighting a cigarette while applying make up, and driving all at the same time...... people really do these things.

Don't rely on phone calls. You have a much better chance of being hired during a face-to-face interview.
If you rely on a phone call they'll think you're lazy.

Most states you can get a police report online with the report number the officer gave you. You can also get a copy of you driving record online. I agree you should be honest, but again only tell them what they ask you. Don’t lie but don’t offer anything extra.

Yeah, it's easy to sabotage a prospective good job by talking too much.
