I work for a non Union car hauling outfit. I run between Baltimore and Chicago mostly. I live just South of Cleveland. I pass through the house but I hardly stop. I am in a nice hotel every night and I choose to work every other weekend. I also have full insurance that costs me 0$ per month and paid holidays.

I see Cassens at the yards I load at all the time including weekends. Most of the ones I talk to tell you that Cassens is not what it used to be. We've had a lot of drivers come over from Precision and Cassens. Just remember that there are always going to be promises that are kept and not kept.
One thing that is constant in Car hauling like any other business is change. I work fore Moore but the waiting list is something like 93 last I heard about a month ago and we have a nearly 0 driver turnover.

I've seen a lot of change just in my 4-5 years here. Only reason I'm still here is because for now it's the best outfit for where I live.

To the op, I honestly think union car haul only has a few years (if that) left. If your just wanting to get some experience, with out the stress of being terminated for damages that will happen id call Cassens. But I'd always keep an eye on what's available around your home area.

So if a man has an opportunity to get in the door at say United Road versus waiting around for Cassens or Cooper would you do it?

I've spoken to a few United Road drivers. They love it and are making great money. I have applied to both Cassesns and United Road. So far I've only heard from United Road. They seem to be offering what I need as far as home time. Not to mention there is a terminal about 35 mins from my house

CJ58 what terminal are you talking with?

Just curious. Been home everyday for a while now and the wife isn't exactly excited to see me roll out for weeks at a time again.

I'm in the same boat as far as being out. My wife will deal with me gone Monday- Friday but wants me home on the weekends.

I started another thread rather the hijacking this one looking for more information on United. In all the threads I have looked at I haven't found out much as far as benifits. I am scheduled for an interview Monday morning. Guess I could just ask.
