TL; DR
I want to become a truck driver for Walmart, but only want to work a maximum of 10-12 (Realistically 9-10) hours a day. Do you guys think this is something I could do?
Full Version:
So, a bit of background. I have been employed by Walmart for a little over 10 years now. Recently, the opportunity to take part in Walmarts Associate to Driver program has come knocking at my door. I have heard nothing but good things about driving for Walmart, and so far, every driver I've spoken to has said if I have the chance to get in, take it, as apparently its extremely hard to get into Walmart from the outside.
I was kinda hoping maybe I would run into someone who has driven/still drives for Walmart. My question is simple. Would truck driving be for me if I only want to work around 9-11 hours a day? This includes time spent at docks.
(And a bonus question for those who have driven for Walmart recently) Will Walmart give me any flak for only wanting to do 11-12 hours maximum per day?
I have no issue being away from home. I live alone. I have no family within the state. No kids, no significant other, no pets. Nothing. My biggest fear is that I am going to get into it, and its going to be nothing but 12-14 hour workdays with the only other time being spent sleeping. I know that if this turns out to be how it is, I'll end up hating the lifestyle.
For those who ask "What would you do in the truck if you aren't driving?" I would spend time talking with friends. Probably playing games on the side.
I appreciate anyone who takes the time to answer.
I have an opportunity to drive for Walmart, but I am unsure if trucking would be for me?

Here's the Wal Mart forum.
Wal-Mart
In your work experience at WM are they flexible on length of shifts?
No company will adjust their job to fit you. You will adjust to fit that job or leave. ONLY WALMART DRIVERS CAN ANSWER YOUR QUESTION.Oxbow, Rayune and austinmike Thank this. -
I don't know squat about Walmart, but I can tell you thinking that you are going to get a 9 hour shift in any driving job right off the bat is unrealistic, the average driving shift is 12-13 hours for every job I have worked. I had one job that if you didn't get stops on the way back you had about a 9-10 hour day, I averaged 45 hours a week on a 5 day schedule, but worked the 6th to get extra money every week. With all that said, most drivers get used to the hours and it is not that big of a deal, it is alot easier working 12 hours in a truck by yourself then it is working in any other setting around people. after driving for so long and being used to being by myself, I don't know that I could handle an 8 hour shift having to put up with people, but regularly work 14 hour shifts in the truck and don't even think about it.

if you don't like the driving, can you go back to your old position?

They basically only allow you to return to your store if you end up failing the 12 week training program.Numb Thanks this. -
Walmart drivers average $110,000.00 a year.

What DC would you work out of? Some have set start times and home everyday. Others you are gone all week. One driver works 12hrs everyday and takes 12 hours off.

I hear their "onboarding" sessions are a lot like Marine boot camp.
Can you do push-ups with one/either arm?
If true -- you mite be better off just driving with TMC (a left, a left, a left-rite-left)....

Here's one thing I would consider, normally to be hired by Walmart as an external driver one would need at least 2.5 years of recent experience to be considered. From my understanding being a CDL A driver for Walmart is considered a coveted job by many in the trucking world I would love to get a foot in the door there as a driver. So I would say that it is an excellent opportunity if you have a willingness to do it.
