The minimum is 1 year working for Walmart to be considered for associate to driver program. You've got to have a clean driving record and able to pass a drug test. You've got to be in good standing in your current position. They'll talk to your managers to find out if you show up on time, have a good work ethic, attitude and that sort of thing.
At our DC I know of 3 drivers who went through the associate to driver program. There might be more but I just know of 3. The one with the least tenure had 10 years and the other two had 20+ before they signed up for the A2D. I know they get swamped with applicants from stores wanting in the program. It's not uncommon to get rejected a few times before being accepted into it. Just keep applying if that happens.
Also keep in mind there's a LOT of other opportunities within the company as well. You can get a college degree for free Walmart will pay for your education. If you want to advance it's all there in front of you. Good luck!
I have an opportunity to drive for Walmart, but I am unsure if trucking would be for me?
