You need to do a lease purchase deal with Paccar.
I don't know if it's because I'm an Arizona resident, or if it applies to all equipment purchased in Arizona, we have various stimulus packages, but there are ways around it.
Inland in Phoenix even describes it on their home page.
I have an opportunity to purchase several new Mack MP8/MDrives,

I’d have to agree with this. Heard these rumors too so I asked my tax guy. He said there have been bills in Congress, one from last year stuck in a committee from the House I think. He did a little research and told me it had been around for over 100 years... I don’t think it’s going anywhere.bigguns Thanks this.

It’s a hard decision for sure. I guess if down time is affecting my service to my customers I’d feel like it would be necessary to hit the order button. Only thing that differentiates fleets is customer service.intrepidor and KANSAS TRANSIT Thank this.

The government getting rid of a tax. That's not standard operating procedure.

FET isn't going anywhere guys, no matter what you hear. If it does, then something will replace it.

I ordered five new trucks for January, they come to $136545 (each), no sales tax or local taxes. FET adds $16k to the price so I am ending up paying $152931 each. I didn't think twice, I needed the trucks.
If you hessitate over this trivial thing, then what's next - paint color?
Order them, get moving ... good deals are not going to last much longer.KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this. -
Ridge, if I was 10 years younger I would already have them, but try as I might the older I get the more cautious I get! lolDominion Transportation, Dave_in_AZ and bigguns Thank this.

Yes I know there have been bills around to get something done with FET for a long time, BUT, I think there is a reason it will happen this time, you have a LOT of people pushing to get the older trucks off the road, you have to look no further than what just happened with the Glider program, after the EPA stating they weren't going to enforce a Glider build quantity rule, a couple of articles claiming the world was going to end over "Super Polluting" trucks and not only is enforcement back on but the EPA director steps down, ALL of this in a matter of a few weeks! I know that they are probably a LOT of smaller operators out there that along with the increase in truck prices the FET IS a stumbling block, Jmho.
Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
The other thing that will come about is shippers requiring "green" trucks, irregardless of location.
Manufacturers will get some tax break or other insensitive for having that.KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this.
