I'm looking for information on my 1997 Volvo with Volvo Engine and 14 speed Volvo Transmission and 264 Eaten rears. It's a sleeper model and runs great with over a million miles on it and I just bout it for $10,000 total plus $3,000 lic and insurance and tonnage and whatnot.

It has lots of new parts and tires.

300,000 on full major and new clutch and front rear end and driveshafts and blower and new tires except for the rear axle.

I will be pulling 80,000 pounds in a 500 to 1000 mile radius.

The "jake brake stays on and I'm still trying to understand the shifting sequence of this transmission.

    Any help most appreciated.

did you found button for VEB there is button if it is engaged VEB start to work when you remove throttle this is thing i most hate on volvo

    is this 14speed syncro transmission?

    if it is

it is very easy to shift but be careful you need to be gently with it shifts slower if syncros are bad you can also do double clutching but not to float gears

Yes I have the Volvo 14 speed syncro transmission and have been told repeatedly "no double clutching" and "no floating gears".

It's good to hear that if the syncro's are acting up I should try double clutching.

It didn't feel easy to shift the 5 miles I drove it bobtail but I was tring to use the bottom clicker for splitting in the bottom gears.

I find out now that the bottom clicker is for shifting only from the low gears to the high gears and that the top button slits all gears top to bottom and bottom to top.

    Clutch every gear they say.

That compression brake on off switch doesn't work as far as I can tell.

Is there another compression brake switch?

I would like to know more about that VEB too?

I see that's Volvo Engine Braking.

Mine is a 1997 Volvo with a Volvo Engine.

    Thank You

    George01 Thanks this.

i use double clutching on synchro g box all of time but slow shifting same speed as you shift with single clutch it is much easier to shift that way if syncros are not good

i dont know for another switch

as for the veb try to look here

You would think there would be a book or a video or youtube on this VT14 shifting.
