I left one company 3 years ago (pre-mandate) over their requirement to have PeopleNet installed. I had been there for 8 years. I just left that next company for the same reason. When I went there, they were on paper with no intention of going to elogs. Then the mandate. At first, "as long as you're legal" was what they were saying. Then, it was "You'll need to run elogs, but we don't care which system you choose as long as it's legal". Then, with about 6 months left to the enforcement date, it became "It has to be compatible with our back office"...so basically, anything "PeopleNet compatible". About 2 months out, they changed again to say "Our system, we'll install it, you just have to pay for the service".

CEO trusts his lawyers that this isn't a violation of the federal leasing regs, because he can put anything he wants to in the contract and if the I/C agrees, it is OK. What he's missing, though, and I've tried to explain to him, that if I choose NOT to buy that service from him and through him, then he CANNOT use that as a reason to refuse to enter into the contract. The only way to gain the access to the logging, messaging, etc...services he's requiring is to subscribe through the carrier.

So, after 3 years there, I scraped another name off the side of my truck.

Mr Finch, i am not trying to be a Hole, but you are like a star athlete who never lives up to his potential. Social security is for people who fail to plan ahead to live their golden years in abject poverty. 58 years old and people half your age can push your buttons and make you lose your cool? You know your job and can drive, but you are still signing up for garbage. And what about the spine? If you uphold your end of the bargain, how are you allowing them to slide?

    C'mon dude...this is business.

I'm amazed at how many people want to put their lifestyle in jeopardy because they don't want to actually follow the law.

I've been on elogs for seven years and the only thing it's done is to actually protect me and my safety. If you don't adapt you're going to be left behind. Which is ok there are plenty more people lining up to take your job because you're being stubborn

Yeah, well they need to move on to another line of work. The time of fudging logbooks is over. Welcome to actually being responsible
