HAHA,big hammer. I wish, I'm in a sterling with a detroit right now, it has one speed and that is slow. I got a taste of the big hammer last Friday though. My truck was down for a clutch fan. Got to take the boss's with a 625 Cat.

I Have Never Been as Tired , you got that right, I just dont want to do this anymore, Now my Knee is starting to hurt. I work local, then in the summer time, get out of my P/U truck, and jump on the riding mower, ect.... Very high maintanance home. But, I knew that when we bought it. Im just about done with trucking period. LOL
formertaxidriver Thanks this. -
I'm so very tired! I'm thinking of going back OTR, maybe regional, something! I have a little dog that has to go with me, or I have to be home every day. I even want to train, but the dog doesn't fit.
All I know is that the job I have is not a good fit for me. It's Sunday and I have to go to work tomorrow. I am dreading it! What have I done to myself? All for the want of the local job.....Wargames and AfterShock Thank this. -
When you find you are dreading going to work, then it is a MUST that you make a change. You either have to change work, or change yourself. If your biggest problem is your attitude towards your work, then changing yourself won't be easy, but it MIGHT be possible. However, if your biggest problem is physical, there really isn't too much you can do for yourself. If you are in reasonably good physical condition, and the work is just too much for you GET OUT BEFORE YOU SCREW YOURSELF UP SO BAD YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING!
No job is worth killing yourself over.formertaxidriver and AfterShock Thank this. -
The thing is we all work long hours. Alot more than the average person. A local driver gets to sleep at the same time every night/day at least. An OTR driver is constantly screwing his arcadium rythym up. That's why we are in here posting at 3 am and stuff, lol.
Most fall asleep at the wheel wrecks are OTR drivers too. So moving local to OTR will not solve your sleep problems. -
Getting out of trucking will solve ALOT of problems.
Which is what I'm in the process of doing right now!
Wargames Thanks this. -
i've never been OTR, i have been taking quite a bit of time deciding if i wanna even do it. i have a B license and have always driven locally. i dont know if i would be able to adjust to OTR driving. i'm just itching to do something more with my life i guess. i'm 23 and lost i guess even though i got my stuff together with owning a house and what not. i still feel like i'm not going anywhere.

And I've made up my mind. I'm going back on the road. Second week in a row I got less than 5 days, and without the overtime hours, I can't hack it financially. I called my last OTR company and they asked me when I could be back....
If anyone is in Houston, get with me, I will point you in the direction of this job. It's not that bad for the more hardy skateboarder, off weekends, home every night. 50% loaded, 50% mt, 3.5 hours of actual driving. No tarping.
PM me for the company name and pay. I won't get a dime, and I want to make sure that they have someone to replace me after my two week notice.AfterShock Thanks this.
