So I am still unclear as to when you might need a TWIC card, I have tanker and hazmat...should I just get one or should I wait until an employer wants me to have it?
Any clarification would be appreciated. I'm not exactly anxious about spending $100+ for no reason.
    Thanks for any help

The TWIC is to enter ports, no ned to get one unless your intending to go there, But most port will still let you in with a $20. fee, At least the once I've been to, Company reembursed, If you going to be a company driver, and the company wants you to have one? tell them to pay for it

It looks good on a resume... not all employers will pay for the TWIC, but some do.

TWIC is for ports, if you are not going to a port there is no reason to duplicate the hazmat background check.

If I were you, I personally wouldn't get any endorsements at least until I had a job lined up. Then I'd only get the ones my employer requires in which they would pay for.

I agree. If you know what company you want to work for, then get only what they require. Worry about the rest later, if you ever even need it.

What looks good on a resume is experience. Endorsements with no experience are endorsements with no experience. Besides who in the trucking industry uses a resume as opposed to filling out a job application usually online. Moreover, any employer that doesn't pay for your endorsements is an employer you don't need to work for.
