I don't think you're actually reading posts on your thread. If you were, you'd already be on your way to orientation somewhere to a company with good paychecks and benefits.
120 posts and you're still hung up on Werner.

so who do i listen too??? really someone give me some solid advice. i have not returned to werner i asked them if it was possible. i did not take any effort in any direction yet. in fact i have applied elsewhere, im not entirely happy with werner anyways. it was not the best experience. it seems like everyone tells me to do something different. i dont like werner but the only good thing seems to be they will bring me back despite walking away.

nearly everyone tells me something different.

    Ok.

Let's go back to Ad356 school.

What kind of trucking DO YOU LIKE?

Drop hook? Tanker? Flat? Reefer? Van? specialized? Doubles? Seacans? what lights your fires in trucking?

WHERE do you really enjoy going in these United States? For example I love the west because it requires a different and better mindset to help others where possible than the predatory and prey east coast cities which I got tired of.

When do you like to run? You a day time man? A night owl? Or what?

How do you want it? Drop hook, unload, load, team, single etc.

Write answers to each one of the where, what, when, how and so forth and you will find that there are a percentage of all companies availible to best fit you.

I agree with @Chinatown , you had a wealth of info on this thread, I must have given you at least a dozen or so companies, yet you still want to contemplate Werner? I just don't get it, like the old saying "you can lead a horse to water but can't make him drink it" pretty much sums it up here

the reason i called werner but did not actually take any action yet is that several members suggested i go back there. no other reason, well and perhaps the fact i wouldnt have to start completely over with a trainer from step one again....... although that might benefit me if i got a good trainer.

i did apply with abiline motor express. they offer drivers allot of things that sound good. built in refrigerators, 1200W power inverters, and trucks governed to 68 not the typical 65.

what am i after with trucking, well before i look for something really specific i need to get experience and get established. i am thinking dry van is probably the best place to start. where do i want to run, keep as close to home as possible. i have a family and a unborn baby on the way, so i would probably say northeast. i went to california and didnt even like the idea of being that far from home. im frankly also interested in drop in hook for now. dont really want to deal with driving + unloading + tarping + slop loads ect ect.

basically if im going to drive a truck i look at this way. start with the easiest type of driving and then go from there. master the basics then move on to tanker, flatbed, or other types of driving.

i must say that i am interested in abiline but i dont know if they will hire me, time will tell. having a nice larger fridge/freezer in the truck is a huge plus for me, i dont have to go out and buy a fridge. i can stock that thing with hungry mans and save money. constantly eating at truck stops is expensive. a 1200W inverter is really nice too. werner only allows 140 watts and there isnt much you can do with something so small.

really these companies expect you to live in a truck so a decent sized inverter should be a forgone conclusion. they say they think inverters are a fire hazard, but if they are installed professionally by someone who knows what they are doing i dont see how. the problem would come into play with someone who wires it improperly with cheap low grade wire.

Abilene will probably have what you want. They also have Northeast regional if you want it. I think the trucks are governed at 72 mph now.

Have the truck dealer install it with documentation showing permission from your company higher. Dealers will record the installation and it's particulars such as gauge wire used etc. YOU pay all of it. But when it's done right, the fire risk is minimized. Like anything else you cannot live in fear of fire, in fact the new trucks with DPF or DEF I cannot remember, you are easier to go aflame than ever before.

I don't know where you are location but North East is take take take and never ship ship ship. So... be prepared to deal with less than honorable parasites up there. Im not trying to make bad of the NE, I did not know any better and started there in trucking. It damaged me in some ways helped me prepare for some other cities out west which have higher threat levels than NE. Memphis is one...

Van is a good start. Just keep in back of your mind, if you ever. Ever. EVER. get bored in van and stop giving a *&^% about what's in that box, find something else to get into that engages your mind. Tanker maybe Flat or something...
