the cost of living has gone up significantly and the wages have stagnated if not gone down. the solution, especially in this idiotic state has been to raise minimum wage. the problem is the rest of the wages DO NOT follow. it should be that if minimum wage goes up $1 then everyone should get a $1 raise across the board. inflation is loosely based upon minimum wage. workforce entry level employees often make minimum wage. when minimum wage is increased the cost of goods at walmart, grocery stores, gas stations ect ect goes up. do you really think that all-mighty CEO is going to take a pay cut, NOPE actually he gets a raise and when he tanks the company he gets rewarded. the whole system stinks and nothing is going to change unless the peons decided not to work till things change.

Speaking of such, we quit buying cans of potatoes, and go for 20 pound bags instead. Burn a litle more on the stove, but you aint gonna find 20 pounds in cans for 20 dollars.

What kind of work do you do? My last job, not trucking but driving nonetheless, paid $10 an hour. You know what my raise was after four months? Fifty cents an hour. That's the norm. Not to get a $16 an hour raise in six months. I still say you lucked out. Good for you.

I wouldn't mind an afternoon in a multi stick. Mostly for the cool factor. Won't disagree with you tho. If they told me I was now sleeping in it, I'd be balling my eyes out. I'll just keep my 70 inch condo

Posts like this make appreciate my 1099 East European job.Power inverter, APU (but can idle if need to too),75 mph truck.Still think they should buy me fridge and microwave too.I actually gave notice 2 days ago but maybe I should reconsider it.
It may surprise you but there are actually areas with 85 mph speed limit.

In my company (like many companies), they promote from within. You start at an entry level job and bust your butt and outwork everybody else. Yes, I was overqualified for it and it wasn't a drivers job. But I looked big picture. As soon as a job become available in the drivers department I would move to that department.

It's how the place operates. It's how most union houses work.

my point with the inverter and fridge, it costs allot of money to eat out on the road if they dont provide you with the ability to cook on the road. the tech is out there to allow drivers to do so. eating fast food costs $100-$150 per week plus its unhealthy. the tech is available. being told to buy your buy your own inverter and having their shop install it would be fine. telling you that you cant have it at all stinks.

if your burning through $150 per week to cover all of your expenses on the road, why even do it?
