Ok, so you live in Attica? I just went on Indeed and there's at least 20 positions for Class B or A that you qualify for even with limited experience, why waste your time with a temp agency? There's definitely other jobs on there that pay better than that. And H.O. Wolding is w2, (I asked) I applied 3 years ago, they contacted me for orientation the following week. Family events forced me to pass on it

    Boattlebot Thanks this.

Yes, there are companies that do not take orscreen. Applications an go through aa temp or stafffing agency...
Which, is. What i do..... for the. Companies that are my clients..

Couple things here, 1099 is not necessarily bad.. as a staffing/recruiter agent for a firm I am 1099, just means I am not an employee of the firm but have a contract with them.. lets. Not go into all that right now.

Temp is not necessarily a bad thing either as a lot of companies go through staffing agencies as they get at least 90 days to decide to hire the candidate based on what they have seen.. so it is like a long working interview.. it s called temp to hire... more and more common these days..

For you, going through a staffing agency, Is probably a good thing.. most staffing agency staff for many companies and have a variety of options and opportunity for you.. and just like how the company gets to see. How you re.... you get to checkout the company and if ou want to work there... if not have your staffing agent find ou something else... Somme staffing agencies also. Provide benefits, not all, but more and more are as having a steady stream of candidates is crucial for a staffing agency to meet their clients needs.. and it is a highly. Competitive industry.

So if. You decide to apply for the job you posted about, no har iis asking the staffing agency what else they have..

Which tastes better: Strawberry ice cream or medium-rare filet mignon? Both are foods, but they are completely different in texture, serving suggestions, and practically any other way you might think to compare them.

In the same vein, it is nearly impossible to compare driving a school bus with long-haul trucking. Yes, both involve driving a big vehicle, but that is where the similarities end.

A school bus is almost always on a rigid frame. Semi trucks are usually articulated between the cab and the trailer.

School bus drivers haul living, "precious" cargo -- kids going to school. A bus driver would have to deal with the kids, parents and school staff.. also, bus drivers do short runs of may a couple hours or so with lists of stops letting. Kids on and off, as well as driving predominately in residential or in the city... Long-haul truckers haul every kind of cargo imaginable, including live animals.. but completely different than a bus load of kids..

Right now there is a big need for cement truck drivers.. as well as other local CDL driving gigs.. especially. The. Seasonal gigs.. this. Is a good time to. Get on. With a road crew.. especially asphalt.. commercial landscapers need. Flatbedders, and local container companies are hiring as construction crews and homeowners doing spring cleaning are renting the dumpsters, they need drivers to deliver and empty them...

That is still considered part-time.It pays pretty good but this type of job is ideal for retirees or someone that wants an extra income.I may look into it driving bus next Fall.

sorry you got confused i had an interview with a non-trucking job, a factory job. the manufacturing wages have been decimated by the temp service thieves. i really have a strong opinion against them. i know exactly what you guys are talking about 100%, unfortunately they are the norm around here. impossible to get a local manufacturing job without them.

frankly the temp service thing, IF i go through a temp service its only to get a job right HERE right NOW. i have $200 in the bank, im waiting for the final check from rist, and my state taxes. point blank im broke. if i am a temp, im going to darn hard for another job while im there, and if something comes up im leaving the temp service, no notice, nothing but a phone call IM DONE. a temp is just that a temp, they have no reservations dropping me and i have no reservations dropping them.

Wow, sounds an awful lot like mu own hometown. And yes, it does indeed suck. And ot is hard if not impossible to enjoy a vaguely comfortable life.

Wish I had some options for ya. Plenty of carriers "promise" regular hometime, but I can personally attest to the fact that their idea of 'regular hometime' is to generally get you home in time to take care of license - related issues (fresh photo, DOT physical, and the like) and to heck with your family.

I'd recommend what I do (part time driver for Roehl) but I will be the very first to point out that my position works great for me (everything's paid for) and may not work for you (just starting out and need stuff like a home and whatnot).
