Why don't you try HO Wolding? If you survived two months away from home at Werner I think you can do this. Even if you don't come home every other day you'll be home on weekends.

Heh, the school buses have cameras now. Only reason I would consider it. Go ahead Johnny, be a little ####ake, it's all being recorded. Your momma can't throw around indignant attitude to get you out of this one.

BTW, it's "S". P1 or P2 is regular (over/under 26K lbs) passenger bus. School bus is an S endorsement.

ad356, there's plenty of driving work out there. Don't let the bad experience get you down. Now is the time to think about what you can offer a prospective company. Willing to do an occasional overnight? Mention it. Willing to start early in the morning? Drive overnight? Hump some freight? Communicate what you are willing to do, and don't be afraid to say you won't drive bad equipment or go over-hours. Good luck.

am i wasting my time. i probably submitted applications for a dozen or more local trucking jobs, many of them say 1 or 2 years required, but i had someone tell me that there is such a driver shortage sometimes they accepting guys with significantly less experience, otherwise some jobs wont get filled.

HO Woulding is a old company, around for decades. We looked into 1099 with them as a team once upon a time long ago. It did not work out because a pair of 20 somethings with no credit do not get to buy trucks directly. Not without sureity and property etc to back it.

Leaving that story aside, make sure you are a employee with a paystub and taxes deducted w2 etc. Remember, you will have road expenses. It is not so much what they promise you making each year (You have to survive the year first...) it's more important to set aside each pay into savings, and some for expenses and send the rest home. That is making money against some periods of weeks where there is no miles for reasons beyond your control. You would have something to tide you by. Otherwise you starve and quit. And for what?

so is werner really that bad. i had a 6th sense about them, that i should walk away. too many bad signs. i also have a brother in law that drove for werner. drove for them as in PAST tense. he had a couple of minor accidents, and one of them involved a car. he claims up and down that someone driving a car tore across a parking lot and into the side of his truck.

he claims that accident was not his fault and that the accident and police report reflect this. he also claimed that werner ruined his CSA and DAC with the report and made it appear that he was completely to blame.

does this sound like something werner would do and why?

You will find something in your area, I see so many companies around Rochester/Syracuse/Buffalo ramping up hiring again as others have stated, just be willing to take a dump truck or similar type job then move on after you get some experience. They aren't all gravy jobs, but you need to start somewher. You're correct about the experience, some will take you on and train you their way, I just wouldn't settle for less than $16 an hour, but you gotta do what you gotta do

i did apply with HO wolding. i sent for my DAC report just for the heck of it. i have never had an accident, but i also read online that someone actually had werner put to accidents on their DAC fraudulently when they didn't return from a leave. i just dont trust them

going for a $12 per hour interview today. truthfully its too little money and even i do work there its only going to be a week or two, they might as well not even train me. at that rate of pay im only looking for something absolutely temporary till figure out what im doing. minimum wage is $9.70 in ny, i suppose they have a motorized rotating door on the front of the building. one of those fancy ones with the stainless steel and gold trim.

how do they expect to retain ANYBODY at that rate of pay. frankly they have constant ads in the paper. i wonder why. like a couple of birds singing in the morning. cheap cheap cheap cheap cheap.

I wouldn't even get out of bed for that, thats just a pathetic wage. I understand you're in a bind right now, just keep applying, something better will come thru

Sounds like my old job. The boss complained she can't find quality workers let alone retain them for long. It must be cheaper for them to constantly cycle through employees than pay more and retain quality people long term.
