Not all accidents are reportable even though there is a police report.

Stop trying to get records from them. They only use what is reported by companies that use the service. They also run public records searches, that almost any one can do.
If they have no data on you, then don’t make them go looking for it. Then it may be too late.

The database you want to know what information is in it is the DOT/FMCSA Driver PSP.
Can order it off the web site, cost is $10.00. Emailed right to you. If you had any reportable, it will be here.

Most companies keep a record of all accidents and incidents, and have their own criteria for how long they remain on your company profile. The accidents that get reported to the DOT are the ones where:

    FMCSR 390.5
    • A fatality has occurred
    • someone is transported immediately from the scene to a medical facility
    • Any of the vehicles involved is towed

Well unless it is reported for a dac report or an insurance claim takes place like a payout, there is no record of it.

    Bean Jr. Thanks this.

The last item is not always reported to the fmcsa.

The information doesn’t need to be detailed.

Start with your personal MVR, any police reported accidents should show.

Over the past 20 years where I have been a safety director; less than 2/3rds of recordable accidents for any carrier [that I worked for] ended up on the safety report. There is still a lag on how some states report accidents to the FMCSA. When I was audited; they looked at our actual records and recalculated our accident frequency/ million miles and updated the web pages.

Then get your PSP and see if any have actually made it there [past 5 years of accidents shows along with 24 months of roadside history] but only incidents that actually made it to either your MVR or PSP are going to matter.

Often when the MVR shows (2) accidents in the past 3 years; the insurance asks for the PD reports to see if you were at fault for both...a lot only allow one at fault in the wood pile.

Tip, always get a copy of any PD report.....
